Miyamoto's keynote at GDC (think about that acronym for a minute) has to do with how he chooses to develop games. That's why he talked about how the controllers were developed, and how he frames his mindset when he goes into a project. I have a sneaking suspicion this kind of topic is
pretty interesting when you consider what kinds of projects Miyamoto has been involved with. Having him speak at this conference was an honor.
He's not there to hype Nintendo's next big thing, or to give you updates on a game his team isn't working on. He's there to talk about how HE goes about making HIS games. Come on guys.
I will admit PS3 had a positive keynote (their first in quite some time), but they have a lot of work to do still. LittleBigPlanet will likely be like Ico; a great game no one will play (for a variety of reasons, including; it's in a niche genre, few people will have PS3s, etc), or it could be a bad game that is overhyped. Either way, it's not going to sell consoles, and PSHome is getting only slightly positive reception (the threat of hackers, able to run Linux on PS3, overwhelming ad space, and inability to easily go from PSHome to your actual game are negatives).
See, this conference is about how games are developed... the art of it. Not specific details on projects still a year away. Those who expected it only let themselves down.
