So, Ness is low- tier, thats old news. What makes him low-tier (aside from the lack of tourney players) and what can we to cancel or hide those weakness?

Strengths:

1. Fair
2. PKT
3. Dair
4. Bthrow
5. Bair
6. Uair
7. PSI Magnet

What is apparent is his air game is good. (Duh) I'd say to advance his metagame its going to take work in new use for his Yo-yo and PK Fire.

Weakness:

1. He can be infinte grab by Marth.
2. Chain-grab by most of the cast easily.
3. His third- jump can be gimp (bad)

As of Now thats all I've seen when playing as him. Please enlighting me!

Counters

1. Spot-dodge, stay in air (Marth F-Air ) play close to the stage's edge (can he grab-release Ness in to his D-Air?)

2. Same as above but less scary (barely)

3. Try not to use it. Be unreadable with your third. Use PSI Magnet to slow your fall and throw off their timing?

Any input from anyone would be godly! :bee:

Ness is a manly boy! Rawr! You might as well know your strengths and weaknesses with the character you choose. Only then will you soon find out what works and what doesn't. Maining a low-tier, I've had my ups and downs. But so far it's been one hell of a ride and it's worth every minute.

except, those are huge weaknesses, it be like trying to hide an elephant in a room full of Democrats......
Fixed for Election Day.

Unfortunately, Ness has a lot more than that for weaknesses. But he also has many strengths that are completely unique to him.

Sub-par range when using physical moves.
Only decent ground game
Out-of-grab smashes(I know you mentioned CG, but this is worse IMO)

Strengths unique to him:
Almost %100 control projectile with unlimited priority (tailwhip)
Has a projectile that pierces shields (tailwhip lol)
Can pull a sick %50 combo with PK Fire (Ask EagleI what it is, I think I've hit him with it a few times)
CAZCOMBOOOOOO! (PK fire off stage > spike)
Has 2 smashes that do the same damage regardless of how long they are charged. (Yo-yos, they also have hitboxes while charging)

Those are all I can think of right now.

... what 50% combo? also, I can't SDI on wifi..... :( but i know what you're talking about, and i can sometimes pull off the same combo....

its normally like PKFIRE>Dair>jablock/else for me, but you may be talking about PKfire>Bat, which i cant get out of because of the stupidity of wifi...

Up tilt isn't useless. I stopped using it for some reason, though.

@EagleI: Actually, I've used it on offline players too. I know you could DI out of it, but 50% is good enough for me. The actual combo is PKF>SHDair>Bat or PKF>PKF>SHDair>Bat.

U-tilt is ridiculously useful. Don't ever forget it, 'specially against heavies.

Juggling and getting the opponent into the air.

Not a lot, but those two are extremely useful. Not to mention U-tilt's priority is very high (it clanks with some smashes, but I guess Ness's f-tilt does too). It's really about finding your own uses. I like landing right next to an opponent while holding up, then utilting right when I hit the ground.

Hmmm, I may start playing smash again today. Maybe test some things out.
