Ok, I have problems when I hit the guy with the sheild. Sometimes when I hit the other guy with the sheild, he'll go in a totally opposite direction and delays my reaction time to wave dash in that direction causing the hit-stun to go away. Is there a way to find out where hes going ahead of time? Or does the character type and DI come into play.

I just started using falco cause im a Main ***** and can never stick to 1 character. I think it's because I saw some of Forwards videos.

the only way to predict DI is too see which way you opponent usually seems to DI. you cant really premeditate it. but it shouldnt matter because youll get better at predicting DI and the only time you need to like that with shines is on FFs like spacies and falcon... maybe roy too but hes roy rofl. there are those occasions where its WTFDI where they seem to soar across the stage at %s like 20, but if u wavedash fast enough you should be able to catch up to Dair > shine.

hope i helped :]
im a main ***** too lol. but falco is my numba WUN

The key to WDing with Falco is slowing down. Usually we jump>airdodge in one smooth motion, with Falco there is a very slight pause before the airdodge.

When waveshining, do people alternate the stick from down for the shine, then diagonal for the wavedash, then down again for the shine?
Or do people keep their stick diagonal all the time because you can still do a shine with it in that position?
I find myself sometimes illusion-ing instead of shining when trying to keep it just diagonal. Or am I just hitting B too fast?

Most top players do the first method, going back to neutral everytime.

1. Down and B (don't need to press all the way down, just enough to be able to shine BIG TIP***)

2. Return to neutral position while jumping (roughly at the same time)

3. hit diagonal direction and airdodge (roughly at the same time*** slightly longer for Falco so can be more precise, and AGAIN BIG TIP just be holding the direction enough to get the direction inputted).

4. repeat after neutral position again.

Honestly the best thing is to learn to not mash the controller directions when trying to do this. The more you practice doing it quickly and lightly, the faster and more controlled you will be.

The reason most pro's do this is because if you want to wavedash backwards without accidentally turning around you need to jump before inputting the wavedash backwards. Or else you can get caught in the turn around animation and not wavedash at all.

Edit: And yes your probably hitting be to fast if your phantasming after your wavedash. That means your still holding a horizontal direction when hitting B.

Ah. Gotcha.
But try this, this is what I did by phantasm'ing accidentally.
On the ground, put your stick in the position you have it for wavedashing, a 45 degrees towards straight down. Then hit B. It's a shine.
Now keep the stick in that same position only hit B while in the air, phantasm.
Just thought I'd share.
