I'm putting together an article series about Genesis for AiB's front page to hype up the tournament and want to give a big spotlight to the Melee side of the event. I'll probably focus much of the article on Mango's dominance, but I also want to highlight the doubles event, out-of-region participation, and what the local (CA) crowd expects in terms of upsets or trends.

Can anyone help me out with some input? I'd like help remembering/learning:

- the big (and OOS) tournaments Mango has won post-Pound 3. (RoM, MJ, WCSL, ...?)
- who the best teams are expected to be
- home-town favorites
- big names coming from OOS
- what YOU think the biggest Melee story from the tournament will be (upsets, regional dominance, melee resurgence)

Thoughts/suggestions?

Just say that mango has won every tournament he's been to since Pound 3, including major regional tournaments on the east coast, in the midwest, and in the south.
- big names coming from OOS
I heard that Amsah and Armada from Europe are coming.

I still don't think Armada's arrival gets as much hype as it deserves. There has always been the debate on how well he'd fair against the top players in the States. Genesis will be his first tournament out of Europe so it's really interesting.

As far as hometown favorites go, I think a bit of spotlight should be put on Pink Shinobi who's been making a name for himself these past 6 months and has attracted the attention of OoS as well.

For hometown favorites I was thinking more along the lines of this:

Which local (or WC in general) players do you expect to *really* wow people at Genesis? We all know SS, Lunin, Zhu, et. al. are amazing, but who is a favorite to really make a difference in the tournament?

Thanks for all the other input!

dude
cocknater and rapeliclit is way too good of a team name

and you better not say EVERY tournament
remember when he lost to JMAN?!
well I guess that was split so w/e but STILL

secret weapons:
kfc
larry
pink paul
shroomed
oscar
kira?
me hopefully

in about that order

idk there are a lot of people who could potentially fill up this list
but if you want to talk about up-and-coming talent from CA it would probably be shroomed, hmw, oscar

Notable teams from the East Coast:
M2K and jman are teaming.
Cactuar and Darkrain(I know he isn't EC) are teaming.
Scar and Wife are teaming.
DJNintendo and Warriornight will mess some people up with double Bowser.
Me and Sensei should do alright.

Tournament is going to be AMAZING

Killa For Cash (KFC): another unknown-outside-the-region NorCal player, KFC came out of nowhere with an impressive showing at West Coast Smash League, where he took out NorCal favorite TANG and came a shine away from beating Zhu. As a subscriber to the Azen/Drephen School of Thought, KFC's Marth is a frighteningly-patient flurry of tippers and edge-guards. East coast players may be accustomed to Cactuar's faster style of Marth play, so KFC has a shot at ruining a few OOS players' runs through the bracket.
Awwwwwwww yeeeeeaaaah. :)
