Wifi is a bad place to practice due to lag and delay. You cant determine a person's skill level by playing them on wifi. If you want to solo practice you should play level 3 computers. Anything above level 3 computers means that they have inhumanly reflexes. Practice with level 3 computers. Its your best bet.

Wifi battles can give you some general idea of a person's skill level. It's rarely going to show the best side of them due to lag, but it's better than nothing.

But if you're just looking for a critique and know what to work on, whenever you get a chance record a match with a friend(it doesn't have to be great quality, just put a camera on a chair and video tape the match), upload it to youtube, and post it here for a critique. Otherwise, you have to find someone who knows marth well enough AND lives close to you. It gets a bit difficult.

First, save a kitty, don't dbl post.
Second, Wi-fi is not so good for skill building, but it's better than nothing.
Third, MK is insane in Wifi lag.

Wifi battles don't show the true skill of the player, but they are better than CPUs. You're still fighting people.

Wifi battles aren't "USELESS." Just not preferred. Basically here:

Greater Skilled Player IRL>Lesser Skilled Player IRL>Greater Skilled Player Wifi>Lesser Skilled Player Wifi>Level 3 Computers>Level 9 computers

At least that's how I look at it. =b

I actually don't own the game so I might sound ******** here, but why are Level 3 computers better practice than Level 9

Level 9s can read your button inputs prior to you even seeing them on-screen.
This allows them to spotdodge it/roll/perfectshield it. However, this is balanced off by the fact that you can manipulate their AI by exploiting flaws in coming from a ledge (most of the time, if you delay a shorthop, they'll just jump up and you can Fair them back, and overall lacking human common sense.

Level 3s are just stupid, but they don't input read as much (note they somewhat still do though), and they at least attack and shield. They offer a basic AI training dummy to work on spacing and tactics on.

I, however, actually got better fighting Lv .9s.

No, I am not joking. If you WANT to enter the competitive scene, and am completely ignorant of what it's like, go fight a level 9 CPU ditto and you'll learn a lot of the tactics advanced players use.

However, that's why we have sites like Youtube, DailyMotion, NicoVideo, etc. to show us the competitive scene, and Smashboards.

But if you were like me, fight a few level 9s and you'll learn a few things. From there, work on spacing with lv. 3s, and naturally fight characters that give you a bad match-up like ROB vs. Marth fight players generally better than you.

EDIT: Note that fighting Lv. 9s to see what some of the basic competitive tactics are like only applies to Brawl. Melee CPUs seems like they were just for lulz.

i guess the only use for lvl9 cpu is your spacing game. but they dont use any AT and pretty much use the same method, so its not really gonna be the same. but you get the idea. and it helped me anyway

When you do manage to get some videos, I'd be glad to critique them. If it comes to it, I can grab my FC and post it here, but I can't say I'll be the greatest teacher.
