This was my first time ever taking Marth to a competitive situtation, and I was very nervous. My c-stick was broke, so I could no longer space my aerials the way I normaly would. I got a new controller so it's all good now though.

I finished 3rd overall. And I won this set. It's incredibly hard to space the fair when you have to press f-a. and I kep messing up bairs... the went into dairs instead. I need the C-stick.

My questions for you guys: Would you say I have the right idea with Marth? I always wonder if I'm using him the right way.

I really want to finish 1st this saturday.

most time

you came at him with a fair he would just roll backwards .

that pikachu wants to maintain that level of space so he can thunder(B) you and attack ,

so you have two attacks to deal with ,

dealing with projectile dependent characters is really tough

but like the poster above before 'use counter '

you need that mixup so the game is not one sided

i saw some sword dance attempts .

once he got behind you .

you were a sitting duck in your shield

remember you can abuse the sword dance when your back is turned

dont Nair so much because marths hitboxs have a blind spot for smaller characters i just saw you kept getting dsmash every time you attacked with a Nair

also dont twin fair ,

since the fair is really fast you can mix up ,

fair to shieldbreaker and so dont be afraid to experiment

also about smashing

dont fsmash because of marths hitbox sequence of that move goes up to his head and comes forward to the ground gives enough time for small characters to react with a sidestep

dsmash because the hitboxs come out the feet.

there were times where you could have upB or even upsmash when you were in you shield

well thats my thoughts on the pikachu match i will edit my post later

on the pit

:) hope that helps

Not bad. Since you had a malfunctioning controller, it's hard to call a lot of things, but you have a decent, fast paced Marth, which worked out for this situation, since you didn't need to play defensive in this match-up. Learn to use your special moveset better though. You rarely ever hit the B button.

DI straight up when Pikachu hits you with an air dodge.

Learn to not get hit by Thunder.

nice marth man, i give you props for not even having your c stick and still kicking butt. I don't know what I would be without my cstick *sheds a tear*. We should brawl sometime, you'll probably be a good match. I hope you like marth dittos though, lol.

@Hadooken:

I won the set. But I got fed up not being to able to DI properly... I kep going forward on all of my fair instead of backwards on the second one. No c stick sucks.

About the lack of b moves... That's a huge weakness I have as a player. I don't use them with ANY character. I'll have to work on it but I usually forget to use them. I've gone entire sets with MetaKnight without using the Tornado, for example.

@Rave: I will play you, but I'm not the greatest on wifi. I can play Marth fine on wifi, but MetaKnight just fails on wifi.

Here's the 3rd match... It wasn't up at the time I posted the first two.
