Need help against Wolfs F-Smash Spam

I was playing against a pretty good fox,. It was pretty even at first but then I started consistently beating him. This is when he switched to Wolf and started spamming his F-smash, which I could not get through.

This is what he did. He would spam lasers when I was far away which would force me to approach him. When I would get close to try to dancing blade or a F-air approach, he would spam his overpowered F-Smash. Which has so much god**** range and priority. Maybe the farthest F-smash in the game.

How do I approach a wolf who does this. he mostly spammed F-smash but If try to counter his F-smash , he roll behind me and do a D-smash when it was over. The counter wouldnt even be a good way to rack up damage as his F-smash is multihit. If I tryed to jump over him he 'd use Up smash. or Dsmash when I got behind him or if he was spamming his Fsmash and miss hed be out of range from my sword from behind. It seems Marth has no approach to this gay talentless spam. What do you guys do when this happens to you? I found switching to falco and abusing reflector works well, but how do I beat him with Marth?

he lasers me, so I sorta have to appoach. But yeah shielding sounds like a good idea. I should also maybe try shieldbreaker, or up and foward tilts next time.

Hi
Wolf - Wolf is very hard to fight at first. His special moves and his f-smash make it hard to space well vs him. The key is to camp just outside his f-smash range so if he tries it you can punish easily. If he uses a special move then your own attack can outpriortize it or you can shield and punish. Lasers aren't a big deal really. SH over them or just perfectshield them. If you sapce correctly you won't have to worry about Wolf's close range options which are all good, but I will tell you what they are anyway. His shine comes out fast, probably 1 frame and it has invincibility frames. It has a set knockback not based on percentage. iy sets up really well for any follow-up move. If you shield he is in range for a dash grab. If you roll away he just laser. If you try to attack you will eat an f-smash. Just roll away since lasers are easy to deal with in the first place. No reason to risk getting KOed by an f-smash or put into a bad postion by a throw. Speaking of throws, his d-throw is really good. Also leaves you in range to follow-up with different things. The set-ups are the same as with Wolf's shine, but the d-throw set-ups only work at lower percents. At higher percents you will just smash right into the ground. Also at close range Wolf's d-smash is his best kill move. He has a good jab combo that is fast and does decent damage and his f-tilt has good range and priority and hits twice when sweetspotted. But as I said if you space well you can avoid all of these moves. You should almost never get hit with his d-smash honestly. A big component to beating Wolf is taking advantage of his horrible recovery. Alot of the time you can just edgehug him when he is trying to recover and he will be done. But you can chase him with fairs if you like. Honestly it isn't hard to gimp Wolf and once you start doing it, the match gets easier. Also Wolf has some nice aerials, especially his Bair so be on your guard for that

Thanks for the links guys. EmblemLord always has solid advice and DaAnimals a beast in those videos. Ill try Blocking his smash, or jumping over and punishing with dancing blade. Abusing Wolfs horrible recovery with F-air or D spiking seems like the way to go.

If the wolf is spamming his laser and you approach from the air, when you are about to usually do a fair or a dancing blade, consider using marth's downB (counter).

The wolf will be expecting an attack, and will Fsmash to hit you instead, but in reality you are planning a counter to his counter. If your counter works, you can follow up with fair or dancing blade, or whatever works. Just try and time your downB so that you dont get tricked yourself.

Well online play will never be competitive anyways due to the lag. If you play this competitively in person try it then. It always works for me. Sometimes it even stops the wolf user from spamming the laser, because my counter was too much for them.

dude, you're freakin marth! Arggo him and rip him to shreds.
if a wolf is at the edge spamming and notices you aren't moving in, he will continue spamming and racking up the additional damage. Why? Because it is FREE damage. Don't try this agro bs. A a smart wolf wont move.

If he gets smart and continually shield grabs you when you fair approach or counter approach, and he stops using his f smash, start using shieldbreaker instead, or jumping behind him and bairing/landing short of the grab. Hell, you could jump behind him and bair if he keeps spamming fsmash in the same direction, or air dodge and punish.

Shieldbreaker against a shield grabbing abuser is going to make a huge difference too. I three stocked a wolf friend who didn't learn fast enough and I broke his shield 5 times killing him 3 times when I tipper fsmashed him at 50-70 percent. If you see him start to abuse, either get out of range and wait for him to start moving to you to approach, or just get on him right away. Don't let him abuse the lasers, just trick him into doing something you want him to do. The reason you're getting owned is because you keep the same strategy, and he's not changing his because it works. You beat that by finding something to beat his strategy, and then beating him head to head. Spammers usually suck when they can't spam their moves, because they don't actually fight enough.
