Setups
PLEASE bring televisions or your Wii and Brawl! We are usually short on setups and they help massively. Either can be useful, some tournaments we have too many televisions and not enough systems, and vice versa.
Schedule:
11:00 Registration begins
1:00 Registration closes for first event (Brawl Doubles), so just try to be here before 1 if you want to enter doubles!
PLEASE NOTE: ALL scheduling is subject to change, and WILL change. It all depends on how smoothly things are running. If you intend to show up at a specific time for a specific event, do not go by the schedule, call someone at the tournament to see how it's progressing. Do the same if you're running late.
Pools (NEW!)
Brawl Singles will be running pools prior to the actual tournament.
What are pools?
Rules:
We will be using the MLG ruleset for Brawl. I'll add a link to the full MLG rules soon.
Food:
Hillsborough St. (walking distance)
Subway
Zaxby's
Golden Dragon
Arby's

NY Pizza
Jimmy John's
There are considerably more options within a ~5min drive, but really... why not just walk across the street?
Craven Dorm
House A Commons (or E/F based on attendance)
See quote below for directions and parking!
there are a couple places for free parking; people can park anywhere on central campus (the parking lots are next to the apartments on Erwin) or they can park in the Bryan Center lot (next to the parking deck). If they park on central, they'll just need to ride the bus over to West. The bus stops are obvious. Just ask the bus driver they are going to west and he will let them know when/where to get off.
So parking:
125 Science Dr, Durham, NC 27708 (just drive to the end where all you see is a cirlce. The parking garage is right next to the bryan center).
Next to any apartment on Erwin Rd, Durham, NC 27705.
209 Anderson Street, Durham, NC 27705 has a fairly good sized parking lot.
The tournament is tentatively in Craven House A Commons. If the turnout is large, then it will be moved to House E/F.
Craven Dorm is on the main quad. Just head towards the Chapel. When facing the Chapel from the busstop, the area on the left is the main residential quad. Turn Left. You are now facing the main residential quad. There are cement walkways to take, one on the left side of the quad, one on the right. Take the one on the left. Walk straight, You will pass one archway. Directly after this archway is Craven. It will say B next to the door. You will need someone to let you in. I suggest getting a phone number. I will give mine to people who pm me. At that point the person should be able to bring you.
Foxy said:Somewhat Important Announcement
Setups will definitely be kind of tough to get, especially to cover the attendance we might have, and I really don't want this tournament going late; especially due to the fact that a lot of people seem to be missing their brawl discs/have broken wii's/etcetera so that they can't bring a setup.
It's not much of an option, we pretty much NEED setups, I think Michael said the setups he bought for his tourney could be used here? If that isn't true then by no means will I force that but it would help if lent freely (and I'm going try to to figure out how to secure the wii's so we don't have to worry about theft as much, which equals more setups).
So what I'm doing about it is
Bring a Wii+Brawl = Free Brawl Singles entrance
Bring a TV = Free Brawl Lowtiers Singles entrance
(both of which are $5)
Some people might have mixed responses to that kind of offer, but we really really need the setups, and those people may be able to use that money to also enter another event that they wouldn't otherwise.
The drawback is a slightly smaller pot - with 30 people, the pot is $150, but with 30 people and 5 of them brought Wii's, the pot would be $125, and that makes the $25 lost split between the prizes as expected.
The OP lists my prize distribution for >20 players at 50/25/10/5/5/5, so for this scenario:
$150 pot (and what my standard adjustments would be)
1: $75.00 = $80.00
2: $37.50 = $40.00
3: $15.00 = $15.00
4: $7.50 = $5.00
5: $7.50 = $5.00
5: $7.50 = $5.00
$125 pot (from the free entrances for setups, assuming 5 out of 30)
1: $62.00 = $65.00
2: $31.25 = $32.00
3: $12.50 = $12.00
4: $6.25 = $5.00
5: $6.25 = $5.00
5: $6.25 = $5.00
So that's what the new prizes would look like in that scenario. But the free entrance offers for Wiis/TVs definitely stands! We need setups! Even if we by a stroke of luck had more than we needed for tournament rounds, there is a lot of interest in warm-up, friendlies, seriouslies, and practice for the next round, so they'd probably always be utilized.
Thanks for reading!

Pools (NEW!)
Brawl Singles will be running pools prior to the actual tournament.
What are pools?
- A pool is a round-robin tournament (where each player has a set with each other player)
- There are multiple pools, and the number depends on the entrants
- The results from the pools will provide the seeding for the tournament bracket (rather than previous results from other tournaments)
- If there is a tie in the # of SETS won, the player with the higher # of GAMES won will place higher
- Each pool will hopefully have a designated setup to play on (or two)
- Each player is guaranteed many more tournament sets, rather than the usual 2 guaranteed sets from a bracket (regardless of success)
- For this tournament, no players will be eliminated from the bracket based on their pools performance; all entrants will reach the bracket
