But that is not even necessary, because the Wii U supports downloadable content. Patches and additions can be released through DLC instead of having to put out a whole new game.

Like many, I believe it was a typo or DLC for next year. I’ll cross my fingers for the latter, and hope that they release a villains pack with K. Rool and Ridley.
It could be like that Luigi Bros Wii U game.

Downloadable as dlc for current players but also given a standalone release for new customers.

Yeah, people have been burned by Capcom, but DLC is actually amazing in concept (just not always in execution.) GOOD DLC include expansion packs that add tons of content, continued support for an existing titles after work is complete, or content that would just not have been ready for title launch.

Not all DLC is nickel an diming people for costumes or companies leaving games unfinished only to sell the finished product to you in pieces. That's the sort of DLC people should rally against, but DLC in general is not evil.

What I think, is that SSB:6 won't be released in 2015, but will start entering per-production in 2015 and these guys have it all confused.

We know Sakurai has stated several times that he did not include an adventure mode like the SSE in the new games. From what we've seen, most of the additions made to SSB4 affect the standard multiplayer mode, and even the closest thing to Adventure Mode we've got (Smash Run) is mostly a multiplayer mode, so...
What if they are planning to make a completely different game which features Adventure Mode ONLY? I mean, something like the SSE, but longer and hopefully not so repetitive. I know it sounds stupid but who knows, Nintendo needs sales and something like that would sell well for sure.
