I used to be 100% sure about this too. But because melee has gotten so much coverage from esport sites, gaming communitys and such I now only feel 95% sure it's not happening ^^Melee remake ain't happening.
Don't think Nintendo cares at all on how much coverage or viewer numbers it got. And Nintendo has been well known to decline doing a "cash cow" (Like smart phone gaming, any petitions and fan campaigns, region-free, etc.) Not to mention since Nintendo has $10 billion in their bank account I can't see them wanting more money badly. Plus, last time I checked, Melee wasn't the 6th Smash game.I used to be 100% sure about this too. Melee got large viewer numbers (over 100 000 for finals) just last year and still has a big following (considering it is 13 years old, has no online functions and haven't recieved a single change during it's whole life). If Nintendo ever realised the future that might be for competetive gaming, they could probably turn a remake into a cash cow. Maybe not for this generation nor for a good while, but someday not to far into the future (melee is strong and has a very passionate community, but it can't live forever. A remake should come from and gain hype & momentum from the passion that still excist around Melee).
Haha.Maybe Nintendo is retiring the Wii U and trying to rush out a new, more powerful console, with "Smash 6" as a launch title.
Or maybe Nintendo is leaving the home console market and Smash 6 will be an updated port for Xbox One and PS4.
Nintendo will not put their IP's on other consoles if they go down (they've said this many times before) and they are far from being done.Maybe Nintendo is retiring the Wii U and trying to rush out a new, more powerful console, with "Smash 6" as a launch title.

They seemed pretty big on them for Awakening. I can't imagine them missing the chance to add a ton of stuff to this game that will likely last for many years. It's the first time they actually can do updates/patches/etc. for Smash, so I hope they don't miss the chance. Not sure what this means... it could be a DLC or expansion pack, but Nintendo hates those.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Sorry. XDThey seemed pretty big on them for Awakening. I can't imagine them missing the chance to add a ton of stuff to this game that will likely last for many years. Not happening buddy. They posted on the Smash Bros Facebook only a few hours ago, touting the 2014 release date as part of their post. The sad part is... what if this really is about Smash4 and they're delaying the game until 2015?
I just couldn't.
Yeah, it's been dead for ages, but they seem to have revived it today with a few updates. There's a Smash Bros Facebook? How... ?
Anyways, thanks for putting my fears to rest, hopefully the game comes out sooner rather than later.
Well if namco ruins 6 then 4 and 5 are ruined cause they're working on them too.IDK what this means.
Hopefully, "Smash 6" isn't ruined by Namco
While that'd be highly unfortunate, it could be worse. I'd much rather wait until 2015 for these games than buy them this year, but then get news of a Capcom-style "Ultimate Edition", or something to that effect, being released later. The sad part is... what if this really is about Smash4 and they're delaying the game until 2015?

See kids. This is why you stay away from drugs.Project M is better than any Melee remake would and could be.
Please be right.Let me put it this way.
One thing that breaks this is the date.
See, Sakurai generally waits a good few years before making the next Smash game.
This is next year, which means two things.
1. This is a port (preferably to arcades).
2. They've been developing "Smash 6" during Smash 4.
Though, I highly doubt Sakurai is making them build three different games at the same time.
Another thing is evidence.
Sure, they say it happened. But it's not like anyone else has said it.
As much as I like the idea of a new Smash, there's just too much against it.
