Yeah, so I'm not a great signature artist, obviously, but I sure would like to get better. I mean, my brother isn't even that experienced at signature making, and he already has produced really nice signatures with PS.

See, my problem is I don't know how to make decent backgrounds, or effects, to make a decent signature. All I can think of doing for a background is using the Gradients tool, and then doing something random to it. And I hardly know how to utilize effects, cause I don't understand a lot of GIMP's terminology.

Anyways, here's all signatures I made in GIMP (one was in MS Paint) IN ORDER of their creations. Tell me what you guys think, and stuff. I'll update this topic with new signatures I make in the future.

  1. Metroid (My first signature MADE IN MS PAINT)

  2. Lucario (FIRST GIMP SIGNATURE

  3. Cloth Mario

  4. Bowser

  5. Shy-Guy

  6. Five animated signatures

  7. Animated Samus

  8. Lucario - Pokemon Signature Contest Entry

  9. Dragon - Mythical Creature Signature Contest Entry

  10. Four armed Bowser (technically, I don't think this is a signature)

  11. Failed Mario Signature (my worst and latest signature)

The first step to making a good signature is knowing what makes a good signature.

Check it: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=175790

You should definitely browse the Sig Shoppe here in the Artwork Emporium, see what knids of stuff other people are making as well. There should be tutorials lying around somewhere.

Good luck on being inspired.

Oh yeah, if you ever want critique on a signature, post in the Sig Critique Topic. Just... make sure you offer advice to others first.

These signatures aren't terrible, but there's room for improvement. I think it's primarily about getting past basic Photoshop effects and mixing different features to create higher quality stuff.
