Ive managed to finally figure out this tech but Im still having some trouble with it. In order for me to actually pull it off I have my hand in the piano position over X and B making it very difficult to play normally.

Is it possible to zap jump with the 3D stick?

Its basicly the finger positioning Im having trouble with, pressing B and X at the same time. How do you guys do it? What am I doing incorrectly?

I set my Z to jump. I grab with Y. Makes it so I don't have to do the recovery claw everytime I attempt to zap jump.

i use the classic controller, so pressing 2 buttons at the same time with it is a piece of cake
i've read that GC controller users, change one of the trigger buttons (L or R) and set it to Jump
you can use the b-stick (change c-stick to special) and tap jump on to perform zap jump easier
i don't know what's 3D stick :)

I use the recovery claw...its the easiest way to zap jump.
Also watch your timing after the first jump.
I press x and b at the same time(executing the zap jump) right after I hear Lucas make a growning sound after his first jump...works everytime.

The recovery claw is crap. Either set jump to z and grab to y as Galeon has done or use tap jump.

I would strongly suggest b-sticking.
