These are my views about Smash Bros. I've been wanting to let these feelings out and vent for a good while. Keeping these mulled up inside me is hindering my concentration. Bear with me.

Tourneys: Tourneys to me are okay. They are just to show off your skills and all. The ONLY good tourneys, however, are major ones. Large tourneys show varying skills from different places, but local tourneys are just circle jerks of nerd fanboyism. I've seen almost everyone on my campus who play Smash, and probably 80% of the Montgomery area. I know everyone's playstyle, and how to beat them. You can't analyze any major tourneys, because they are so huge and you won't see 60% the competition again.

Now, tourney***s themselves. Yes, I say tourney***, just like tourney***s say scrub. No offense, those who find the term "***" derogatory or offensive to their sexual orientation. Bite me. Anyway, I think tourney***s can do something better with their life. I mean, playing SMASH BROS. of all games, for a living? At least play something to brag about, like, Guitar Hero or Soul Calibur. Now, I'm fine with tourney***s, but just like atheists and vegetarians, as long as they don't force their opinions and rules on me, I can tolerate them. Whenever I'm lurking, I always see them saying things like, "No items, STFU scrub!" and "You can't play on Bridge of Eldin, scrub!". If anyone disagrees with them, then they flame the "scrubs" ****less, until there's nothing left to **** but a dead, decaying corpse. They are so insecure that no one agrees with their crappy rules that they want to beat the ever loving **** out of them. DO NOT try to force your completely unnecessary rules on me. I will Warlock Punch your ***. If I was actually in a tourney, then I wouldn't have this problem about them, but I see them trying to force it on us normal users like a Nazi trying to force a Jew in an oven. No offense, Jewish users, but it's a striking resemblance to what tourney***s appear to me. One person once said, "Tourney***s are the **** killing ALL video games in general. They can't handle the heat of items so they turn it off. They can't handle the way a map works so they ban it. They can't handle the way a character outmatches Fox so they ban it. But they don't ban bugs and exploits....right and WE'RE the scrubs."

That brings me to my next point: exploits, such as wavedashing. I'm personally delighted that they took it out of Smash when they made Brawl. It was a cheap glitch that tourney***s used to cockblock opponents who were obviously more skilled then them and played and trained the way the game was meant to be played. The new exploits with Meta Knight and King Dedede are insane. These scum are better trolls than Sakurai.

THAT IS ALL (for now, I have to go)

well lets think about this for a moment. it doesn't take a real genius to see this either. you're angry because someone owned you at a tourney and made you look like a SCRUB (yeah i said it) and you are a scrub not only for whining but because of one thing. this is what gave it away. when someone says cheap it's a SCRUBS (yes again it's here) way of making johns when they lose. wavedashing isn't cheap but it helps to pull off combos in melee. if you are really upset about this the well i'm sorry. and items take away what skill is still left in brawl. if someone with SKILL is beating up someone who sucks and the sucky person were to grab a smash ball and win, that's not skill. items take away the heat of battle and take away the skill that true 1 vs. 1 matches have.

Well, Guitar Hero and Rock Band require more hand and eye coordination than Smash, and they are also based around rock music, so therefore they are more awesome.

Soul Caliber is an overall better fighting game than Smash. I'm a SC fan myself, and I'm pretty good at it.

soul caliber is a completely different game than smash though, so I see no comparison between the two.

As for guitar hero... I can't think of an arguement at the moment XD

This proves my earlier point.

1. It's just as easy to pull off combos without wavedashing in Melee.
2. If I'm a scrub, then you're a tourney***.
3. The only ones who have ever beaten me are my two close friends.
4. I am good but I generally stay away from tourneys.
5. Items appear RANDOMLY, so everyone has the same chance of getting them.
6. Who says it doesn't take skill to win with items?

I will be back later to add my views about tier lists, Melee vs. Brawl, and all my other gripes.

1. falco's pillar take wavedashing buddy

2. ok if ur jealous then go cry somewhere else

3. they must be the only people you play

4. then you have no experience when you'll need it

5. they're for fun but take away all skill in the game

6. a noob is losing and runs away to beat on the smash ball, gets it and then wins, not much skill he just ran and took it which takes no skill whatsoever

Why is Guitar Hero more reputable than Smash Bros...? Playing a fake guitar? If you replace that with playing REAL guitar, I might agree with you.

Keep in mind I don't even go to tourneys.

Also, you're on a competitive Smash site here. I don't know who you're expecting to respect the fact that you told all of the competitive players here they could be doing better with their life.

First of all, the generally agreed on definition of a "tourney***" is someone who imposes their opininos on everyone else. And I can honestly say that I have not seen very much of that on SmashBoards at all.

Second of all, this is as stupid as calling people who are anal about grammar grammar nazis. Comparing the death of 6,000,000 Jews and millions of others is hardly comparable to yelling at people to share their opinion.

Finally, who exactly was this person, and were they high at the time or just stupid? Items are UNCOMPETITIVE. In the Super Bowl, would you think it's okay if random obstacles got into the way and useful items appeared at players' feet? You can't test skill if luck is such a large portion of the game. The same works for stages, they ban stages which are unfair. Do you want to lose $100 to someone because Icicle Mountain decided to spontaneously drop down quickly while you were at the top of the map?

As for whatever about Fox, are you talking about MK in Brawl, or Melee? No character has been given an overall official ban in ANY Smash game. I could be mistaken about SSB64, but I know no character was banned in Melee and MK has not received an official ban in Brawl.

I'll respond to the last idiocy in the next part...

That brings me to my next point: exploits, such as wavedashing. I'm personally delighted that they took it out of Smash when they made Brawl. If wavedashing were a legitimate glitch, the developers would have removed it when they discovered it. Legitimate glitches are those like the black hole glitch. You clearly have no knowledge of competitive Melee, which seriously discredits most of your points. Just calling wavedashing a glitch at all does that, actually, but whatever.

MK and D3 have exploits, yes. If Sakurai had done any sort of measurable playtesting he would've found annoying infinites and chaingrabs.

The reason these are not unfair, especially not moreso than items, is that they do not depend on luck, but learning these things as they come up and learning how to counter things like chaingrabs. There are ways to counter them. Or to avoid them. Also, you contradict yourself; you complain about stages being banned because "they can't handle them", but you think that exploits are totally unfair and should be banned. Walk-off stages got banned at least partially so you can't do 0-death combos off the edge. Also, banning a tactic is a lot more difficult to enforce and such than simply banning the stage.

Overall, I can't tell if you're trolling or just ignorant to a large side of Smash. Then again, I agreed with you when I first came to this site so I suppose it's not entirely fair to yell at you. Just know that...meh. Wavedashing isn't a glitch. And banning items and stages aren't johns, they're legitimate.

Don't bother continuing. (though you probably are anyway.) These types of threads have been done millions of times before, and devolve into nothing but flame wars. that and:

Well, Guitar Hero and Rock Band require more hand and eye coordination than Smash, and they are also based around rock music, so therefore they are more awesome.
1.no.
2.Go play a real rhythm game, like GF+DM or Pop'n Music.

I really hate to say this, but i think you are a scrub. the term "tourney***" really is stupid.you obviously know nothing about competetive smash. Maps are banned for being unfair. Items are banned because you don't need talent to use them. Exploits and glitches are actually techniques, buddy. you are a complete noob sir. GUITAR HERO IS SOMETHING TO BRAG ABOUT?You have no respect. Get off and learn a few before you post stuff like this. you probably just saw "tiers r 4 queers" and went about the cult. wavedashing is a technique, and are you not the one who said you don't mind if it doesn't bother you? well, sorry to tell you, but you are never going to win, and you fail epicly.

1.But wavedashing is probably the most used and helpful of all techniques, and you need to stop johning about it being "cheap".
2.No johns.
3.Ever played competetively, with real rules?
4.yay for cowards!
5.they're for fun but take away all skill in the game (direct quote)
6.really, bat dropping says hi and that anybody can do it.

Well, Guitar Hero and Rock Band require more hand and eye coordination than Smash, and they are also based around rock music, so therefore they are more awesome.
And pressing colored buttons on a fake guitar which correspond to colored circles on the screen obviously takes more skill than Smash.

Soul Caliber is an overall better fighting game than Smash. I'm a SC fan myself, and I'm pretty good at it.
Soul Calibur is a traditional fighting game, so technically it's a "better" fighting game. Smash is different. Also, as far as I've heard from competitive SC players, Soul Caliburs I and II are the only commpetitive ones in the franchise, and it's gone downhill from there. I can't say that definitively, but that's what I've heard.

This proves my earlier point.
No it doesn't.

1. It's just as easy to pull off combos without wavedashing in Melee.
As Lawz said, there are combos you need wavedashing to pull off. There's also wavelanding, shielding out of a wavedash, etc. It's not just "WHEEE I MOVE QUICKLY!", you have to learn how to use it effectively instead of just using it.

2. If I'm a scrub, then you're a tourney***.
Those two statements are unrelated. You being a scrub doesn't make him anything. It could just mean you're a scrub.

3. The only ones who have ever beaten me are my two close friends.
And what, exactly, is your spectrum of opponents?

4. I am good but I generally stay away from tourneys.
...Ah.

So in other words, in your group of friends and other people you know you're one of the best. This does not make you good. Play in a tourney and do well and tell me how you do then. Again, I don't go to tourneys either but I know I would likely suck if I played anyone besides acquaintances (in Melee, I already know I suck at Brawl for a fact).

5. Items appear RANDOMLY, so everyone has the same chance of getting them.
The chance is the same, yes. But it doesn't take skill for a Golden Hammer to spawn near you. Or for that to be a Golden Squeaky Hammer.

6. Who says it doesn't take skill to win with items?
It does take skill to use items the right way, but it takes more skill to win without them there at all.

I will be back later to add my views about tier lists, Melee vs. Brawl, and all my other gripes.
This should be great...*sigh*

well i guess you pretty much answered everything better than me thank you. it saved me time and effort (i hope)

before you figure out the "yay for cowards!" thing, I was reffering to the fact that he claims to be good at smash without going to tourneys.I am good, as far as I know, but if i were to play somebody else competetivly, I would probably lose. The guy is just overconfident. and steriotypical. and gullible. speaking of which, they should make a word for being gullible, but after you fall for something you defend it. I will call it "Stubbornly gullible"

PS:Incase you guys didn't know, The parsed link in my sig leads to an emulation site that I use when I am bored. No download needed.

I am currently wordless by the OP, so

Yeah, I figured that -- I didn't take any offense from that.

Also, that's a good name for it.
