I decided to list my most hype match ups that have yet to occur.
These are matches that I'd be excited to play, and that the general community would like to see me play at some point in tournament.
For the sake of hype, I will write these in the third person.
I'll list the match up, describe why it's hype, and list my odds of winning.
HugS vs IHaveSpaceBalls(IHSB)
Simply put, this would be a matchup between the top 2 Samus players in the nation. With IHSB's recent win over top competitor Darkrain, a few feel he is ready to test his Samus abilities up against HugS, who has been widely considered the best Samus in the world for at least 4 years. HugS has not lost a Samus ditto since late 2004. Will IHSB's distinct style throw off the Samus champ, or will HugS's crown remain untested?
HugS's odds: 2.5:1
HugS vs Jman
HugS is known as a Fox slayer in every sense of the word. Jman is known as a Samus slayer, and is considered a candidate for top 10 in the world. It is a rare sight to see 2 players battle with complete knowledge on each others match ups. With Jman's undefeated record against Samus(I think), and HugS's recent string of victories over Lucky, people will have the privilege of seeing two masters at work. Who will come out on top? Will Jman be the first Fox aside from Mango to gain a positive record on HugS? Or will HugS prove that a Samus in the right hands can hang with the most proficient, campy, anti Samus style out there.
HugS's odds: 1:1.5
HugS vs Shroomed
Shroomed recently upset HugS with a 3-0 victory in Norcal about 2 months ago. Words have been exchanged in the months following the confrontation, and the anticipation for a rematch has reached a boiling height. Shroomed feels the win was legitimate, HugS feels that not only was it not legitimate, but the rematch will be entirely different. Despite his loss to Shroomed, HugS should still be coming into this match as a slight favorite.
HugS's odds: 1.5:1
HugS vs Hbox
Hbox has essentially established himself as the 2nd best player in the Nation. He has earned this honor through world class consistency and a strong yet simple strategy that still puzzles players around the world. However, he has yet to be tested by a floaty of HugS's caliber. Hbox's style is smart, HugS's style is smart. The patience of both players is almost unmatched. It's a match many would like to see, if only once, to either cement Hbox's domination, or put it into question.
HugS's odds: 1:2
HugS vs Armada
Armada is widely considered the 2nd best player in the world, but the rank has been put into question because of his lack of experience vs less popular characters. His loss to Silent Spectre @ Pound 4 enforced this idea, but he is known as a monster at adapting. HugS plays an unpopular character. To make matters worse, he is adept at the peach matchup and possesses a style that makes him more of a puzzle to those that are inexperienced against Samus. Will HugS's style confuse the top player en route to a victory, or will Armada be able to adapt quickly enough to solve the puzzle.
HugS's odds: 1:1
I'm doing this not just for my own pleasure, but to encourage similar write ups from players in the near future to add a sense of professionalism and hype to big match ups that are either guaranteed or likely to happen.
MLG used to do these back in the days for every pro before an event, and it always got the community pumped for the action.
