I have been playing Marth for about two weeks now, and this vid from a week ago. I would like to see what the pro Marth players here -- the one's that know what they're doing -- think. I've been told I play him too much like MetaKnight and I don't use the fsmash enough if at all. Tell me what needs to worked on.

If you can, upload a video that's not on wifi. They're a lot easier to critique, which means you'll get more/better advice ;)

really, I just want to know if I'm using him right. A non wifi vid wouldn't be any different for the advice I'm trying to get. Is my play style with him right and do I have marth play style down is what I'm trying to figure before I go and try to master his more advanced stuff.

Hmm, when I watch it a second time I'll have a lot more to say. For now, I can give you a few pointers.

A) Running up and dash grabbing D3 = great idea. D3s love their ******** grab range, and hence shield grab everything. Just grabbing them gets by this easy especially if they aren't big fans of spot dodging. Grabbing > dancing blade if your opponent is shielding

B) Stop rushing into opponent's that are laying on the ground unless you are going to use counter. Even then, just shield and then punish.

C) Learn to walk.

D) Your LACK of Fsmashes was actually very good. You had them when it counted.

E) Pay more attention when you're using an aerial. I saw so many times when you're Bair would've hit, but you threw Nair, or your Uair would've hit, but you threw Bair, etc.

F) Pretty good use of offensive specials (Dancing Blade/Shield Breaker). Now learn how to use the defensive specials (Dolphin Slash/Counter)

G) Practice your spike. The one time it would've been really feasible to spike, you didn't even try.

H) Learn your spacing. There were a horrible lack of tippers. Smashes are good to use sometime.

I) And of course, like every Marth, you need to tilt more.

You definitely have a well developed Marth thus far. However, one thing that I noticed is how you never really followed up on your attacks. I saw a few instances where you faired and could've easily chained it with another fair.

it's not a good idea to get over aggressive against a ddd with fairs. That's why I didn't go insane with them.

About the spike: you're talking about when I was hanging on the ledge and he was under me, aren't you? At the time this vid was taken, I didn't know about getting up from the ledge into a dair. That's why I didn't try. I simply didn't know about it.
