Smash Legend
The opening chords of "Bloom" played.
the steady drumbeat.
I looked at the girl I used to love once, then turned and ran.
I ran to the same pace of those beautiful drums.
I didn't look back. I ran across the entire stadium to get to my seat.
I walked into the stands on the third floor, and as I sat down, I saw it.
I saw the lights. The electric, neon glow accompanying these geniuses doing their job.
The sound of beauty. of everything being as it should be. The glow of ambience and the appreciation of the ability to hear sound like never before.
And then Thom Yorke sang the first words.
"Open your mouth wide/A universal sigh."
I breathed unsteadily. And a tear rolled down my face when I heard those first words.
Everything was going to my mind. And I escaped into the sound.
It was the single greatest performance I have ever been to.
Words fail me.
These simple, mechanical words.
