but since you're throwing forward/backwards anyway you'll grab again/dash backwards anyway, ooh pseudo-option selects

You want all hits to cause the combo meter in the top-left corner to go up

except that a wall bounce/grab will incorrectly reset the meter (Hyrule tornado counts as a grab, as well as Yoshi neutral B/Kirby neutral B/Falcon up-b)

whenever the combo meter reset in that video Mario can jump out or whatever

also, if you hit someone on the first frame they hit the floor the combo meter will incorrectly keep going when they could tech out - known as a "dummy bounce"

but obviously the combo police isn't going to break down your door for breaking these rules - you can do whatever you want. that's just the guidelines for getting a combo that legitly connects

the way people generally do it is to make one that connects-i.e. one that's inescapable except for DI.

so no hitting the floor

the down-B->punch didn't really add to that one anyways. Beginning was cool tho.
