My friend and his family own this jewelery store here in Edmonton and today at 7pm it was robbed.

My friend and his parents were held up by a man with a ****ing rifle and 4 other men as well as the driver. They stole more than 10K worth of jewelry and trashed the place. My friend just got back from cleaning up and talking to the investigation team and police. Luckily no one was hurt, but I feel so angry and pissed off right now.

Worst yet, it's gonna be tough for them to repair everything and start selling again, especially with everything gone.

It's amazing how some people can be so consumed by greed. ):

I'm sorry to hear that, even as an Internet stranger. My parents run a convenience store. They've been through stuff like that before.

Don't know which Edmonton you guys are in, but I know that it's a global recession, and retailers in the U.S. are relying on the shopping season to make their sales. It must be hard on them, one way or the other.

They're lucky no one was hurt though. An employee was shot and killed during a robbery at my parents' store when I was a kid.

That sucks, yo... no where is safe these days. My wife quit the local grocery she'd worked at for 7 years after it'd been robbed at shotgun point... It's happening a lot in America, the recession has become a giant excuse for people thieves to go out and rob people, or rip them off online, or in service industries... note they did it before, but now they feel empowered to do so.

k well. My friends father just passed away....

man. I feel so...sad for him. He's already gone through a lot, plus he's studying engineering with he and all the pressure is so overwhelming me. I don't know how he can go through each day.

Somehow he's STILL able to get nearly all 4.0s. He's so strong, i'm so envious of his attitude.

The Canadian one, of course!
