At this point I genuinely think that the Dexter "tease" were not actually teases, but just fun easter egg because of the stage and boss that was coming. I'm not saying he's not coming at all, but I don't think it's going to be in the near future.

But the glasses and gloves in the cinematic trailer and that Where's Waldo thing?

Dexter was absolutely teased. It's probably just that he wasn't nearly as far along in development as the likes of the numbered characters.

Basically the same boat as Scooby and Daffy.

It’s strange that they’ll tease characters like Dexter but we have a few newcomers so far who had no teasing whatsoever.

I’ll make a pass for Nubia since I know she was originally an alt, but they didn’t throw any bones for Beetlejuice or Raven early-on IIRC. I’m unsure about Marceline’s case.

I’m just going to assume that the devs want to add Dexter eventually, but there’s enough characters in front of him that he’s been pushed far enough down their priorities list that they haven’t started work on him much or at all.

Which just makes the dozens of teases that much more confusing. If he isn't happening for a long time, why keep bringing him up?

I think the more interesting pull from this string of characters is Legolas.

As far as I'm aware, this is the first time we've found strings related to them in the game, which means (presumably) they were either hidden well (not likely with the early dev team) or were added in more recently, implying that negotiations with Embracer and/or Tolkien's Estate are going well.

I know they was mentioned on a list of characters from hugeleakeractually on reddit after the fact, but correct me if I'm wrong and we have seen string related to him ingame before.

I want to say his name had been found in early beta datamines too (not actual character data like Gandalf though), but I have absolutely no way to back that up, so... -shrug-

From what I specifically remember being ingame, there was Gandalf who had a design that we've seen, dummy data for stages based on Hobbiton and Mordor, and a remixed version of "Concerning Hobbits" - presumably to play on Hobbiton (it was a darn good remix too, it was up on Youtube for awhile but has been purged.) I personally think LotR and RWBY are still coming as franchises; I don't think being on this list means being scrapped necessarily - except for Hulk

I'm not against the pick after we get Dexter. Though if he does appear, I feel like the other two gotta cameo or be like assists in his kit or something, right? Or maybe it could be like a situation where you have Major Glory be the main character and have him call the other two out for his attacks. Just spitballin

I'd much rather gave Deedee than Major glory personally, I think Deedee could have super fun moveset where she uses a few Dexter's gadget, but hurt others "accidentally".

I just feel Krunk may be another "we have leftover assets to use" character to be keeping an eye on, personally. Even if said assets were originally for someone else that he's meant to parody. -shrug-

He actually was in the data. However, it was literally a single line of code that mentioned his name. So he (and presumably all LotR content at that time) was cut shortly after. It's likely no major work was done on him since it seems he was added to the list RIGHT before they cut the LotR content.

Updated C0 list, this is assuming that C031 is Marceline, which leave us with the following slots and characters

However, this leaves 3 outlier characters that were found through different means, those being Pickle Rick (C020B), Gandalf (Wizard?) and Daffy (Seasons) whose data were stored differently.

The four characters could be ones that are already future proofed already. Future proofed characters that aren't confirmed by C0 list are Scooby Doo and Poison Ivy

Speaking of teased characters, I wonder if Pennywise is actually planned and if so when he's going to launch. I think the problem with the marketing is that they're teasing way too much characters considering the rate they're releasing (with Marceline and Raven for example being teased at least since the relaunch 7 months ago).

I wouldn't really like Deedee in this game personally. That's more of a pick for Punchtime Explosion and other CN focused games than a fitting inclusion for MultiVersus, there's too many vast characters they're slow to include to make her a priority in any capacity. (We still don't have bare minimum characters like Scooby Doo, Wicked Witch and Daffy Duck).
