Most Important Yoshi Quirks/Tips?

Yoshi's Nair has armor frames in the beginning. Not super armor or anything, more like snake's roflcopter armor. This is REALLY useful for fighting high priority characters.

You can nair through lots of Meta's attacks, take the damage, and knock him back. Bait meta into airdodging by tossing an egg while approaching forwards in the air, and get an uair off. Try not to stale the upsmash or uair. Mix in dtilts, it has deceptive range, and lots and lots of pivot grabs. Meta is doable, and possibly not one of Yoshi's worse matchups.

Speaking of Yoshi's nair, it's also rather complicated to airdodge, so feel free to use it far off the level and go for side KOs, as well as fair meteors. As cool as uairing under and off the level looks, it's hard to kill with and it's very risky. Dair works as well, but I haven't done it much.

Pivot grabs IMO are easily the most important Yoshi technique, followed by good spacing of bairs into utilts or usmashes, or bair/dtilt/ftilt shield punishing.

Most of the moves that use his head give him invuln frames.

His shield sucks, his roll sucks. Use sparingly.

Yoshi is different in brawl, in that he is best used aggressively. He doesn't have a great camp game.

What Yoshi quirks do you find most important?

abuse n-air. this is his all purpose move, i use it in all sorts of situations, just beware of the decay if you use it too much. you still want to KO with it.

i've changed my mind, mk isn't yoshi's hardest matchup, if he knows pivot grabs. other characters also give him problems. though.

One thing I've seen rarely mentioned but try to utilize in my gameplay is the fact that Yoshi's eggs are best utilized like an FPS' rocket -- abuse their blast radius by aiming them to land near opponents, not directly on them. This makes it far harder for the eggs to be countered by fairs, ftilts, or however the opponent is trying to approach (Especially if you're lobbing them to land right off their back corner).

another fun thing i do ---- well i actually saw it on a youtube match and it looked great !

i use his nair to edgeguard but jumping out of the stage doublejump back to the ledge and nair right after ... the momentum should be able to bring you back on stage safely and repel your opponent pretty good and more often than not- it KOs a lot

I'll say that I can take on good metas too. Sadly, I can't talk at all unless someone is near Atlanta, or can deal with wifi.

We should wifi sometime. I'm no metaknight, so it's kinda off topic, but yeah...yoshi dittos are fun. =D

And I didn't get to fight jessiah today...or Shiri for that matter...dangit >.< Shiri why'd you leave anyway? =/

Sure, I'm doing finals this week so I won't be on much, but after this week, I'll be able to play more.

On topic: Yoshi has a decent camp game due to ETS and ECE. Since you're talking about metaknights in your OP, i'll say some tips that is useful.

Stay below. If you're up above metas, then you won't get an atk in because yoshi's priority sucks there. Utilize the ETS and pivot grabs alot in this matchup cause they will want to get in close. If they start spamming the tornado or the drill, then the ETS will stop them.
