Missiles that important?

i dont really use the missiles frequently i generally use zair to approach and i dont really stay back much due to her craptastic projectiles. are they that vitle to her game. i havent played a competitive person with samus so idk

missiles are for distraction, shield chipping, and confusing people who expect you to approach with Z-air. You can also missile after an Z-air or Z-air after an aerial missile. Using the Z-air over and over again leaves your opponent with more options than alternating between missile and Z-air. Besides...you can't camp with Z-air.

Don't worry kongfucius, your join date is pretty early, so you've probably lurked the boards for quite a while. Missiles are important for Samus but choosing not to use them is part of your playstyle. C. Falcon does just fine without using raptor boost, so don't worry about it. Don't neglect them though, use it once or twice. If you prefer to use zair that's fine. Again, it's all about play style.

I second pretty much everything kongfucius said (except the noob part). The homing missiles work well in conjunction with the zair. If your opponent isn't spamming projectiles back at you and you aren't close enough to zair short hop a missile and use it to help your zair approach. If you find yourself landing but out of zair range just hmissile. You don't have much lag and it limits your opponents options.

Thanks to how slow the hmissiles are you can get them to hit right after the zair does, leaving the opponent stunned for just a bit longer than usual, giving Samus a little more time than usual to get in for a KO move such as the dtilt or fsmash). Or just help fill in the window between zairs.

Are missiles important?

Put it this way: if you had a gun for an arm, and you had unlimited ammo...well...why not?

seriousley though, missiles are good times, and they are useful tools, but everyone has their own style. Forte's Samus is pretty good and he rarely uses missiles at all so yeah..

Personally I would say, depending on the play style, missiles should be used accordingly. Either use them alot if your going to play defensively or use them sparingly if your usually up close and personal. Either way though, a few here and there wouldn't hurt.

If you decide t use missles AT ALL. use the homing.

they can:

lead to grabs

Stop peoples recovery

Lead to a charge shot(if missles are used when the foe is near ledge)

The missiles aren't what they were in melee but they're still great. You need to learn how to missile cancel if you want to use them effectively. Most of the time the homing missiles are more useful but the power missiles are good in certain situations. Whenever I'm trying to recover I usually shoot 2 to 3 homing missiles to protect myself. It all depends on your style but you should try to incorporate them into your play.

i went some where to play friendlies and all your advice helped granted i lost but i was playing ADHD (the player not the disorder) and he is infinitely better than me.

the most common use i have for missiles (mostly homing) is to blanket my opponent in them after i've hit them too far away to do much else. they pave the way for my arrival
