Mostly because it's a spin off, really. He didn't acknowledge Mario Party, Pokemon Trozei, or other such spin off games.

The fact though is that Sakurai has never acknowledged a spin off via PotD, so I don't see why he would here.

Sakurai wouldn't shove it down your throat so much as he'd give you a reach around.
I think he meant that Sakurai has never acknowledged the releases of new spinoff titles.
