To those who don't know, a Story Mode is a piece of writing for the Make Your Move contest that features characters and movesets in a cross between a fan-fiction and a custom Subspace Emissary. If there is enough to vote on, then contest participants choose the best Story Mode of the contest much like they vote on movesets.
PROLOGUE – THE ISLAND
It is a stormy night. The wind is wild and the air is humid. An island is shown, a large, craggy mass amongst a dark, treacherous ocean. A single spire-like tower juts out of the center of the island, piercing the sky. It looks complex in design and a real challenge to advance up. A second, domed structure is on the south side of the island. The island is also thick with jungle, which has canopy thick enough to cover everything else. The camera zooms into the spire, more specifically the top floor.
The room, despite being circular, resembles the inside of a cathedral in structure. A central pillar has a door in it that leads to a spiral staircase inside. The room is littered with various stones and what looks like damage from a training exercise. Near a large window is a throne.
A silhouetted figure sitting in the throne says to someone in the room, “I am bored of staying here on the highest tier of this tower… we need challengers.”
The camera shows us the figure clearly. It is MEWTWO, looking bored. He is making a circular motion with his left hand, which means he is the cause of the storm. We are shown the person Mewtwo is talking to; it is ENVY, sitting comfortably on a large stone across the room from Mewtwo, examining a strange blood-red stone.
Envy, looking up from his treasure, says to Mewtwo, “Yeah, but we slaughtered everyone else who tried to fight us.”
Mewtwo chuckles, “Yes… but those were inferior clones... Dr. Mario, Pichu, all of them.”
Envy laughed back, “Yeah, you should have saw the look on everyone’s face when I said they were gone!”
Envy takes on the appearance of Masahiro Sakurai, laughs some more. “Everyone else thought you went with them… I covered for you good while you were training.”
Mewtwo nods. “Yes, and you did an excellent job. No one knows my true power now. That’s why we must test other fighters. You know what you must do. Call them to us.”
Envy, thrilled, jumps up and runs out the room. He laughs all the way as his voice echoes off the walls, eventually fading as he runs down the staircase to the ground floor.
Mewtwo stands up and walks to the window. He watches the stormy sea and a creature zooms past the window, an unidentifiable blur. The creature flies out into the storm, heading towards the mainland.
He says in a soliloquy, “Yes, Envy, bring them to me. They won’t know what’s waiting for them. When they are all dead, I will have enough power… to rule the world!”
Mewtwo says this last line with triumphal power and the camera quickly zooms out of the room to show the island once more, and lightning illuminates everything in vivid detail. The title of the Story Mode is imposed upon the screen with epic, ominous music reaching maximum volume.
