Mewtwo general strategy?

Hey guys I've been really trying to get into mewtwo lately but alas, I keep getting my ass handed to me. I'm not quite sure of what mewtwo should be doing half the time or what his neutral game is or how to approach opponents. I've seen combos and stuff and I generally know what moves result in a kill. I just don't know how to get in on my opponent. I appreciate any and all help.

Mewtwo is defensive, so you've got to play it safe.

One huge thing to note is that Shadow Ball is actually worth using uncharged. Don't get too spammy with it, but uncharged/semi-charged Shadow Balls are a huge part of Mewtwo's neutral game.
