Get your spoilers out of here.

Oh, and choke on something after you leave, please. I will not have my MGS4 ruined for me.

Then at least request for a delete. My rage towards you will not subside until:

1) I murder a squirrel.

2) I murder a baby.

3) This topic goes to hell.

4) I get the game and ***** my body and soul to it forever.

5) All of the above. Twice.

my brother and I got it early from gamestop since he works there.......and played it for about 8 hours straight. I suggest that you buy a ps3 just for this game.

I got this game today. My god....I fought Laughing Octopus, and the battle was incredibly intense. Seriously, she scares the crap out of me. Do you know how there are random outbursts after a long quiet period in horror movies that make you jump a little? It's like that for 30 minutes to an hour. I'm on act 3 now.

Laughing octopus was kicking my butt the other night till otacon practically walked me through the whole fight. I thought id have problems with the controls but after like 5 minutes it was all second nature i guess becuase i needed to get used to them in order to not get ***** by the pmcs...
I beat it today I must say it was quite the gaming experience...I recommend it for anyone who has played the other three. The cut scenes werent that bad i enjoyed them. I think im gonna go for a no alert play through.

mg4 by far.

it got a 10/10 rating by ign i think.

plus, gta4 i got bored of that after a couple hours.

mgs, im playing it a second time on hardest difficulty, and not even close to bored.

though mgo kinda licks balls, so cod4 would beat mgo in online play haha.

Haha, am I the only one who likes MGO?
If you've got people to frag then it's safe to say nope. :p

I want a PS3 so bad now for this game. I've waited for a justification to buy one and MGS4 was it. Now it's finally out and I just don't have the money atm. That and my 2nd 360 died last weekend. :|

Uh, any of you guys got any excuses on how a below 18 year old can convince his parents to get MGS4, because I need some to give my friend with the PS3 (I'm the one with the Wii).

nope. if he's under 18, no can do. thats why theres so much violence these days, its cause minors who plays these games get influenced in a bad way, and are just so stupid and try to mimic the game.

They mimic because parents don't take responsibility to enforce what's wrong and what's right to their children.

What's better, this or GTA IV?
Though I'm not really a big GTA fan to give it a fair critique. Plus, MGS4 has to be my favorite game of all time. I'd have to say... MGS > GTA.

On the MGS4 topic: WOW! I'm sure I wasn't the only one blown away by everything it had to offer. I'm currently going on my 5th run of the game and I think I'll go for the Big Boss emblem. Guess what? NOPE! Not bored of playing it yet. I was the same with Snake Eather, though.

ENOUGH RAMBLING!

Snake is godly on Brawl and will eat all others who deny.

FOXHOUND all the way.

which is why im saying that boy's parents are doing the right thing by not buying it since it's rating is for 18+

I was hoping I didn't see a thread like this.

Metal Gear Solid 4 may be the best game ever created...Ever. ESPECIALLY if you have played the first 3. Disregarding the game's brilliance on it's own, it's everything a conclusion to the Metal Gear Solid series should have been, and so much more.

I am in love with this game on so many different levels, they should make a reality show about me and MGS4.

I don't think you understand.

If the parents taught their children right. Games that are rated 17+ would not effect the child whatsoever. Oh, and mental disabilities is also a factor of the violence. Its not the game itself.

I've been playing mature games ever since. I played Diablo constantly when I was five years old to a few years later. Didn't do anything to me.

Whatever though. Too many people are influenced by rubbish(The News) for their info on what games do to kids.

...

Anyway, regarding MGS4, I only get to play MGS4 when I go to my friend's house. He bought a PS3 a while back and hasn't touched MGS4 because he hasn't played the others yet. He's going through MGS3 now.

What's the amount of time it takes to go through the game and the cut scenes? I've only been through four hours of gameplay.

I have a feeling that I have a long way to go.

Game is a pretty decent length and there are a lot of cutscenes. The longest one is about an hour and it's not actiony at all. Still a good scene. I don't like the story as much as the others because the pacing is really horrible.

Thanks for the welcome! Yeah, I knew about smashboards, but never got around to actually make an account till just recently. I guess I am a "long time smasher, first time poster" haha! I just got done with my Foxhound ranking on 4(practice for Big Boss).

This site is great for me to hone my skills. A lot of info I didn't know until now!

Yes MGS4 is too powerful.

I've never had a game feel so "epic" throughout the whole entire game like this.

Ok, so in MGS2 I actually thought Raiden was a pretty decent character although he def. was no Snake. But since so many people hated him in MGS2, they went and made him a crazy bad *** haha.

The detail in this game was amazing in HD, you could actually see the light and shadowing effects on Otacons razor stubble beard! I hate to admit it, but if this truly is the end of Metal Gear Solid, I dont feel too bad because IMO 4 was the best one out of the series.

I loved the game, it was pretty worth the wait though I don't think it's the gaming revolution some were making it out to be...but I knew that from the start so it didn't phase me. It's still a great work of game design and I like that the story of Snake has actually ended, rather than endlessly get drilled into the ground. Gives a sense of finality to the thing I've followed since the first MG ya know?

My only gripes were the somewhat anti-climactic last battle, the lack of much codec stuff (cutting it down was an improvement I agree there, but now there's just too little. Maybe I've just gotten so used to it...) the lack of fully utilizing Act 3's potential, and the online is a little cut and dry. Don't get me wrong, MGO is still pretty fun and I play it at the moment but I feel like it's missing a certain distinctive Metal Gear flair to it. That and the skills could have been a little more distintive among other small gripes. Otherwise though I loved it.

Snake's sure had a tough one. Oh if you play this you have to download the Database. I think if you follow the story it's pretty much mandatory, it explains a lot.

It was great to pilot Rex.

What would have been awesome is a Metal Gear vs. minigame, where you control an MG from the series in a two way match like that one any time you want. Not just Rex (both complete and damaged forms) and Ray, but also MG, MG2, Raxa, Shagohod, and maybe even the ones from Acid and Ghost Babel while I'm at it. That would have been awesome.

Maybe in the inevitable special edition of this game. Subservience or whatever they'll call it. I say Reminiscence.

i do understand?

the parents are teaching their children right.

u do kno that NOT ALL parents teach their kids the SAME WAY.

so preventing them from playing violent games IS A WAY TO PREVENT CHILDREN FROM BEING VIOLENT.

ive been playing mature games even under the age of 18 and it hasnt did anything to me. but not all parents discipline their kids the same way.

eg. some parents spank their kids to discipline, some parents ground them from doing things for a period of time, etc.
