As some of you may or may not know, I love countering thing. I love the counter game. I love finding obscure counters using random pokemon to do random things they aren't expected to do. With the recent additions of Platinum moves/formes to the D/P metagame the OU metagame has become dominated by certain pokemon, namely Heatran, Scizor, Skymin and to a (slightly)lesser extent, Salamence. 90% of teams will have 2 or more of these pokemon and more than half of those will have all four. This has led me to search for a be all, end all counter, a pokemon that can counter all four, and I think I've found one. Ladies and gentleman, allow me to introduce the Metagame Counter:

Moltres@Leftovers
Bold/Pressure
248Hp/148Def/112SpDef
-Flamethrower
-HP Ice
-Roost
-Substitute/Toxic

A simple modification of Stalltres, this thing can work wonders to screw your opponents over. Easily surviving anything the Elite 4(lol, I made a funny) can throw at it Stalltres can easily beat all 4. The best case scenario would be coming in on Scizor's SD while there is no Stealth Rocks in play so your at full health and Sub as he switches, however as this is rarely the case your best move is to roost. From there its just a matter of dealing with whatever comes in. Any variation of Heatran will fail at ever 2HKOing Moltres and any choiced Heatran(Read: All of them) will quickly be pressure stalled out of Fire Blast/HP Ice PP as you Rost off any damage. Salamences Life Orbed Draco Meteor fails to OHKO and cripples it allowing you to Roost off damage then OHKO with HP Ice(assuming life orb recoil). Skymin would never be crazy enough to switch into this thing but you can switch into it as Seed Flare deals lol damage to you(and your immune to Earth Power) and can easily KO it with Flamethrower or HP Ice. The aforementioned Scizor fails to do anything to you with Life Orbed Technician Bullet Punch and is easily OHKO'd by Flamethrower. This set also deals well with physical threats like Lucario and Infernape.

The final slot is a toss up. Substitute helps with Stalling as well as keeping you protected from status moves but Toxic allows you to go one on one with Blissey(assuming it doesn't have Aroma Therapy and even then it is easily stalled out of PP with pressure) I personally prefer using Toxic but I have found Substitute can keep you safe from something like Salamence Draco Meteor(You survive at full health anyways, but you take a big hit)

Obviously this is not the "OMG BEST POKEMON EVAR!!!!111" but considering how stagnant the metagame has become this thing can actually work very well. I've managed to have quite a bit of success with it as its not something most teams have an immediate counter for. Its a huge threat to the current most popular pokemon and considering how common Suicide Leads are having 4 of 5 remaining pokemon countered all at once can really screw a person over

I'm not Meta-game expert. Heck, I barely know the linguistics and such, but...

How does it deal with Suicune? Sub and Suck (Toxic)?

well losing 50% due to stealth rock is not helping moltres out.
True, which is why access to Roost Helps. Its also a good idea too look for an opening to switch, like on a Heatran EP or anything from Scizor so you know you'll get a free turn to Roost.

Once again, this is a very specific counter, but there is a reason for that. At one point in time, not too long ago(like a week ago >_>) OU usage had decreased down to 8 pokemon. 8. Thats how many OU pokemon were being regularly used. As for suicune, the idea is to have it dead before bring out your pokemon thats weak to it >.>

This was only for those four, wasn't it? Even within that, how are you going to deal with Heatran if it whips out Earth Power?
If Heatran pulls out EP then its not choiced which means it basically has no way of beating you. Earth Power cant hurt you if you don't roost and 4 Fire Blasts(Thats the max it could get with Pressure) won't really do enough to make you worry.

If your talking about X-Acts statistics, those "8" your talking about are actually the "Overused of the overused". It doesn't mean that the OU list dropped to 8: in fact, it's currently higher than ever thanks to the banning of Garchomp. However, with the new Platinum moves I think it will seriously drop.

The moltres set is actually very playable in this SR invested environment, it just requires a different way to use it than you would usually hope for.

You never cease to amaze me. :)

I think Yache mence with Stone Edge can beat you, though. I don't use Skymin, but if I did, I would pack HP (Rock) for sure. It gets good type coverage with Grass and Ground. I'm not sure, but Agility passing Scizor would probably be able to get away. It's not common, but royismyboi used that to pass to a sub petaya Empoleon to sweep me.

Substitute is needed to counter those 4 threats effectively. Blissey can be handled by some other Poke, like Electivire.
