Online clans are dumb.
Wrong. Our clan chat is basically just a small community of friends who enjoy talking to each other about the game and help each other get better. We joke around a lot and enjoy chatting with one another, we share brawl vids, and set up fun events every now and then.

What's wrong with all that?

Online clans without a chatroom are dumb.
That's better!

Can opinions really be wrong?

I have nothing against clans =P

I've been a competitive Smasher for quite some time (Since 2002 or so for Melee), but I've never really joined a clan or crew of any sort. I think I'll be a bit more open about that stuff for Brawl though. Sharing knowledge and skill is really important =)

Just change that to "online brawl in general is dumb" and you'd be right.
Online brawl is, by far, not the best way to improve your skills in brawl, but it is good for quickly gaining matchup experience without having to use friendlies in a tourney setting or having to lose a tourney because you don't know a lot about the matchup (especially for people who don't know anyone nearby who smashes competitively and has a hard time finding lots of tourneys). Anyone who tries solely to improve their game on WiFi is dumb, but, as I said, it's a good tool for gaining basic matchup experience. Besides, no one who isn't dumb actually takes online as a serious test of finding out who is the superior smasher amongst the combatants.

Basically, even though online brawl can get dumb at times (especially when playing with people who lack good connection >.>), it's dumb to say that online brawl altogether is totally useless; when you find the right competitive people, it can be a useful matchup experience tool.
