This is a brand new game in the Pokemon series that has been announced for WiiWare, and will cost 1500 Nintendo Points.
It appears to be a more action orientated game, and will feature four player Battle Royals, the ability to store Pokemon to your Wii Remote to play at a friends house, and the ability to obtain rare and legendary Pokemon to use.

If you were signed up to the Pokémon Hiroba campaign on the official site, you would have been sent this to your cell phone and the official site has since updated with it. On June 16th, in Japan, a new WiiWare game will be up for downlaod for 1500 Points. This game is called Melee! Pokémon Scramble!.
Using various Pokémon, you control them through various features including a Battle Royal where you control your Pokémon in a massive pit where lots of other Pokémon appear.
It's controlled with the Wii Remote on its side or the the Nunchuck- two attacks per Pokémon
It also has a story mode where there are levels which end with a legendary Pokémon Boss. Other Pokémon are obtained through defeating them in this mode
In game, you have the ability to take screenshots of your Pokémon in these fights
It has up to 4 player simultaneous play where you all use Pokémon in the Battle Royale. Your friends can also bring their Pokémon from their game on the Wii Remote
Passwords are to be used to find rarer Pokémon
You have various grades of Pokémon you can use. You get more as you progress through the game with Legendaries being traded as you release other Pokémon that you have
I'll bring more as I translate so be sure to check back. Click the picture to go to the picture page.
I'm not sure if this is going to come out outside of Japan, but judging from the screenshots, and the descriptions, this could be a great spin-off from the franchise, and finally a good Pokemon game for the Wii.

The only thing I don't really like the looks of is that the Pokemon look similar to what they did in Pokemon Ranch, but this will probably allow a lot of Pokemon on screen at once.

However, this will hopefully have a release in the West, and it will hopefully be a great addition to the franchise, and I'm guessing this is the action game that has been discussed recently.

And this is my first thread outside of the Smash World Network! ^_^

I hope this isn't as much of a waste as Pokemon Ranch, it actually sounds cool:)

I'm still unsure what the game actually is, but it seems like a 4 player fighting game, but with lots of Pokemon at once, maybe similar to Dynasty Warriors?
However, surely they could have used 4 attacks for each Pokemon, rather than 2.

Ranch wasn't that big of a waste.

You can get a legit mew from it and it allowed for storage, like the R/S box except not uber hard to find.

Anyway, this looks intresting. I just wish you could use more then 2 moves =/

I really hope this isn't another one of Nintendo's crappy games that they excrete when they're losing money.

They're not losing money, so it's probably another one of Nintendo's crappy games that they excrete regularly.

A 3-D Pokemon Fighting Game? If they can do it somewhat similar to the way they did the GameCube version of Custom-Robo, it will most definitely not be a piece of crap. It would probably be one of their most kick-butt games. I eagerly await this dream game, and hope that Lucario is apart of it.

From what I can tell, Rank is basically how you proceed through the battle royale stuff. You catch a Pokemon at its specific rank, and the only thing it can take on are things in that rank (maybe lower as well, although I'm not sure). After winning a battle royale, there's a chance that its rank will increase, in which case you can move on to the next level of battle royale.

It sort of reminds me of the rank system they used in the Monster Rancher games for what tournaments you could and couldn't enter, if you've ever played that.

I want to play this game sooo bad. It actually looks fun. :(

Y'know, I wonder if Nintendo put "Melee" in the name just to make it "appeal" to some of use smashers.

If the Pokemon weren't dumbed down to look like little plastic bobbleheads, it could be interesting. I would never spend a cent on this makeshift Pokemon battling game.

I do like how they titled it with "Melee" though, rather than brawl. Even "Godzilla Destroy all Monsters Melee" used it, but no other game has used brawl yet, not even TMNT: Smash Up.

I wonder if this game's gonna have a tier list?

It's a cool idea from nintendo. But I would need to play it before I purchase it...
