I can't believe I'm wasting my first post on this ****, but this bull**** has gone far enough and i'm pissed just watching this.
notnarb, re-open this topic. Now. trust me, I know how you feel, when you try to do something new and good for the community and naysayers try to keep you down. Don't let ******* trolls like NeighborhoodP and MikeHaze stop a good idea from happening. They don't even play Brawl, they just have nothing better to do with their time than be insecure that their game is "dying" (even though it's not) so they've gotta say ******* lines like "this wouldnt happen in melee" all over the place.
Oh, and for future reference, don't EVER, EVER take anything that Neighborhood P says seriously. This guys a well-known troll around here who has nothing better to do with his life than look up big words in a dictionary to make himself sound smart, put others down when they try to do something new, and argue over nothing for the sake of arguing.
I mean seriously, NeighborhoodP? LOL are you kidding me? This is the same guy who's *** I ***** so bad IN TOURNAMENT that he quit midway through our second match, and proceeded to john about how he wasn't "playing well" that day. Then, after I try to get a handshake (like a true gentlemen), he goes behind me and talks **** behind my back about how he can beat me, while I'm still in earshot (but of course I fixed that in friendlies afterwards where I ***** him something like 8-0). I mean seriously, you gonna take this guy, who has "keepin' the hate alive" as part of his sig seriously? He's got the manners and tact of a caveman, don't ever listen to anything this guy's got to say about anything, he's full of **** and all he can do is pick on people with new ideas and a small post count to grow his e-*****. GET *****
MikeHaze is a cool guy in person and I regret saying this, but online (and mostly since Brawl has come out) he's an *******. This guy doesn't even play Brawl (or so he says) becuase he isn't as good at the game as he was in Melee, so all he does is john all day about how bad it is and tries to derail everything that everyone does to promote the game. He's also a cocky ******* online too, funny how in AllisBrawl's chat room people were talking to me about the GGs we were having, and this asshat comes into our convo with "oh yeah, I can beat that Mr.X guy EZ", and then I proceed to **** this guy 4-0. Afterwards, he flippantly (OH WOW NEIGHBORHOODP, AN SAT WORD THAT YOU CAN USE TO MAKE YOURSELF SOUND SMART!!!!) challenges me to a $20 money match because his e-***** just got crushed into the ground (but of course he'll john that online matches don't count, even though our games had 0 lag). Oh BTW Mike, when are we gonna MM? Betcha didn't know at the time that I was actually good did you you cocky ass? Let's raise it to $50 ok? I'll **** your Marth a new ******* anytime, anyday buddy. If shield-upB is your best move, you're in big trouble my friend. Just ask DSF how good your Marth will do, it'll be an enlightening conversation for you.
Then later, after someone randomly says "wow that Mr.X guy is really good, he beat DSF huh?" (cause ya know, that's what people do when an upset occurs, and it makes people feel good, a crime I know), he puts his ***-hat back on and says "well Mr.X didn't even get top 3, and DSF still won the tourney anyways, and when he switched to his REAL CHARACTER, (snake), he Pwned Mr.X lawls!!!" Yeah b*tch, I got 4th place; so far away from 3rd I know. Oh and here:

Shows how much you know about anything MiketheMoron. GET *****
JTB is a cool guy in real life and usually online, maybe he just woke up on the wrong side of the bed or something.
Koryuu is also a decent guy, but he tends to bandwagon a little too much, but it's understandable when everyone is picking on the new guy.
Now back on topic, why is this a good idea? it's simple for anyone who has used SWF (these asshats wouldnt know though since all they know how to do is talk **** on Brawl and think they're cool now). SWF is simply a friend-code exchange. You can't talk to people after the game, get to know them, or communicate in anyway whatsoever. Also, after you challenge someone, you gotta wait for them to accept, then it gives you a message with their FC and you play. But what if they're AFK? Or they dont' wanna sit and wait in front of the computer for the people they challenged to accept? what if THOSE people are AFK or they're already found someone (since SWF doesn't really tell you if people are really playing or not)? I put up with SWF for awhile, but went to AllisBrawl because their chat room solved all of the problems that SWF has.
SWF is OK, but without being able to chat and/or discuss matches, it's lacking. Therefore with this topic you can use AIM to find matches (revolutionary, i know)! At first I was suprised that this wasn't thought up sooner, but with clowns like these trolling the boards I can see why anyone would be too scared to even try something like this.
To get this topic rolling again, i'll be the first to put my AIM here. My Aim is TKDguyWC2001. It stands for Taekwondoguy and 2001 is the year when I went for the title of World Champion (betcha guys didn't know that either, did you?). Yeah that's right, while these clowns were figuring out what Sine, Cosine and Tangent meant (if they even know now LOL), I was kicking people's ***** in tournaments across the country. I'm currently a 3rd degree black belt and I currently teach Taekwondo for a living.
I play under the name Mr.X, and I have played against and beaten 90% of the good people in California. I only train online, and have never trained in person due to a lack of time to drive to peoples places to play ($4/gallon gas prices doesn't help that). I'm not on AIM much because I'm usually so busy, but I'm on AllisBrawl's chat room a lot under the alias TeamNexus to promote my site. I think it's hilarious because all these newbs who think online sucks have their heads shoved so far up their ***** that they're puking out their own eyeballs. Online is legit, and it's a great way to meet new people and to get better. I, therefore, support this topic wholeheartedly because it IS a great idea and it CAN improve the overall skill level and enjoyment that people get out of this game.
I also love the tournament scene and the great things that it can do for a community so much that my gf and I created my own corporation around making tournaments so that everyone can have the same good experiences that I did a long time ago when I competed in Taekwondo tournaments. It's called Nexus Gaming, and my site is
www.nexgaming.net. It's been a blast doing it except for putting up with clowns and naysayers like these that have no appreciation for anyone's hard work or for trying anything new.
I know how you feel notnarb, these clowns tried to derail my thread too:

Don't worry too much about it, I know it feels horrible at first to come up with a new idea and to get excited about it only to have it derailed, but there ARE reasonable and decent people on these boards. It's just unfortunate that they're much more quiet about things (heck, I was too until now).
I humbly ask you to re-open this topic, because the idea is sound and it'll be a good thing for the community.
To everyone else, quit being *******s to everyone new on these boards. Everyone was new to the community at one point, and I've even talked to other gaming communities, and they see smashers and whiny, demanding pricks who get angrier than 5-year olds when they lose a game. Sadly there is more truth in this than there should be (and I would know, I teach 3-4 year olds who have more maturity than some people here), and it needs to stop. Now.
Gimpyfish/other mods, you seriously need to crack down on the Melee players de-railing everything that is Brawl-related because this is getting out of hand.
