ok im gonna go on a big rant about people hating C3. I'm not chewing anyone out individually or anything, I just wanna know if I should keep them going, so I'm just displaying some facts. I'd appreciate if anyone who has gone to C3 would take 5 minutes and read.

I've been running them for about 6 months or so now, sometimes even before that. There's always enough televisions, setups, chairs, and I bust my arse getting the tournament done because brawl is slow and brawl players play slow. I've still had to deal with many complaints, many of them are synonymous with things other venues do, but still C3 gets all the flak.

I've been thinking about quitting, just because the turnouts are average at best, and I just have to deal with complaints more so than actually promote the venue. I've heard lots...
-The Owner was rude to me .
-The TO was rude to me.
-I didn't get my wii-discount.
-The Venue was too cold for my liking one time.
-$10 is too much venue fee.
-I don't like Sunday/Afternoon/Night tournaments.
-The setup wires weren't taped to the floor, and I didn't like that (actual complaint, word for word)

Now, let's just clear some things up beforehand. I can't speak for individual instances with C3 Dave, but I have always treated people with respect at these tourneys. Let's remember that the only other brawl venue in our area is run by Deez and Sin, who are known for treating people with respect.

Wii discounts are only for the first 5 people, who SIGN up and PRESENT their wii up front when they SIGN UP. People don't do this, and then get angry when they don't get their $5. Follow the instructions I post in the thread several times a month and you will get it.

There was 1 time when the heating system had a problem. This was an isolated incident, and despite complaints, the back room was 61 degrees. (despite claims it was 30-40?)

$10 is the venue fee for every legit brawl venue I've ever seen, yet I get BOMBARDED with complaints about the price. Wires aren't taped to the floor? Is that really necessary? If that brought in more people to the tourney, I would do that lol.

The only complaint I can't help with is the dating. C3 Dave runs them at the convenience of his business, not at the convenience of smashers. Basically since we never can consistently break 30-40 people per tournament, he has no reason to give us a full Saturday where he could make more money doing something else. He has been wanting to give me a full Saturday tourney that I can be in charge of, but he wants around 100 people, and since I KNOW that won't happen, I can never commit.

Another thing I want to ask is what YOU (the average tourney-goer) what you think your $10 venue fee entitles you. Right now at C3, the owner gives me a certain allotted hours that the tournament should end by. If it doesn't end by that time, he gives me enough time to finish, and then we have to leave. If people aren't late, and people are good about doing their tourney matches on time, then we will have time for friendlies until said allotted time is up. That's what I strive for, more setups and more matches being played for everyone. There always more than enough setups, chairs, clean bathrooms (for the most part :)), drinks for sale, pizza delivery, other computers, video/cyber atmosphere, etc.

What do you think your $10 should pay for? 10-12 straight hours of undisturbed friendlies, only on saturdays at noon? A free soda? some other kind of extra benefit? Please let me know, I'm interested in what people think.

If it keeps up, I'm just going to tell the owner that I'm done, and there won't be anymore C3s (unless he tries to recruit one of you guys). I'd be disappointed because they are the only real brawl thing I can attend on a consistent basis. The only other tourney I know of is Ultimate Gaming Zone, which definitely seems like a great venue.

Thanks a lot for reading and responses.

alternating schedules... melee/brawl/melee/brawl is stupid

melee/brawl on the same day is even dumber

Greg's right... one big melee a month (at C3) one big brawl a month (at Game Haven) and hopefully they will be on different days. outside of that all the md/va tournies are at peoples houses so you guys can choose personally what you want to do

if we just focus on having one big melee (at C3!!) and one big brawl (at Game Haven!!) everyone will be happy

that would leave two or three weekends in the month strictly for fests; something this region is severely lacking. Ck was actually right at the beginning of Brawl when he called for more fests. attending fests and tournies regularly make you amazing quickly; just doing one over and over will show slower improvement

also MD needs to secede from VA... bring it on *****es
