Matchup Chart Project 2015 - Calling Greninja Mains!

Hello Greninja boards,

I'm Zareidriel. Over in this thread a guy called Assassannerr made a matchup chart, and asked people to help fill it out. It seems like it would be a cool thing to have. With once glance you could have a rough idea of a matchup. It won't be perfect, but for our first go at it in 2015 we're aiming for "somewhat functional."

So here's what I'm going to do. Go to every Character Discussion board, and ask the folks there if they wouldn't mind contributing. To submit one vote, you'll have to fill out one of these:

Mark each character with a - for a match where Greninja HAS THE DISADVANTAGE
Mark each character with a number 0 for a match you feel is very even.

NOTE THAT I AM ONLY TAKING VOTES FROM MEMBERS WITH Greninja IN THEIR PROFILE BAR. It can be as either "Wii U Main" or "3DS Main". But if Greninja is in neither one of those slots when I count the votes on Friday, Nov 13, it won't be counted.

(Yes, for the avid democrats out there, that means you can vote for one other character as well.)

Like I said, they won't be perfect, and each board will probably be a little biased toward their own respective character. But the results should be interesting regardless.

If this thing is successful maybe we'll do a revised version in 2016.

Spoiler: A few notes on the controversial ones

Went back and forth on Duck Hunt being 0, but his killing problems keep this just in our favour. His frisbee is ******** on shield now though.

I don't think there's enough evidence of the Diddy/Greninja MU where both players are of equal skill to put a number on it. Nietono is better than aMSa and Some, istudying is better than the Diddy players he beats. In theory I am confident this is an evenish MU.

Falco would be in our favour if we could force the approach more consistently but Falco's ability to force approaches is good. Much better you'd think if you listen to the Falco mains, who do nothing but whine. Lasers are still transcendent with rapid fire capabilities and reflector is safe and can be used on reaction to shurikens from a distance. I don't see how we would win this.

Ike is still in our favour. We are the only character who can consistently beat Quick Draw recovery with no risk, by aiming Hydro Pump at it as Ike comes back to the stage. This can force him to land with landing lag or, hilariously, send him flying off the stage at the other end. On stage, he gets zoned easily enough. Just watch out for his throw confirms, they're probably the scariest things he has.

I think Zelda is terrifying lol. She's bad, but her ability to cheese Greninja always surprises me. She can do it more easily than she can to other characters of his strength. Shurikens are laggy enough to be vulnerable to surprise Farore's Wind attacks, and Nayru's makes it tricky to zone her. Because Greninja lacks the rushdown pressure of top tiers like Sheik, Pikachu and Mario, he isn't a character of that typical archetype who beats Zelda (this is also why Greninja goes even with Mewtwo). I expect with more MU work this would swing to our favour but I am not confident enough to put this in our favour.

D3 is a really annoying and difficult MU. Any character who lacks an easy way to reflect Gordos will struggle to fight D3. Greninja has no lingering Nair or repeating jab, and zoning with shurikens is effective but also susceptible to D3 mixing up the Gordo's bouncing to have it go over the shurikens and into Greninja's face during the recovery lag. At 13% a pop, it doesn't take long for D3 to make up any lost ground with some well-placed Gordos.

Ness might be in our favour now but I've left it as even, mostly because he's still an obnoxious **** when he shield camps by the ledge. He's hard to kill from that position and can kill you for one mistake with Bthrow.

Yoshi I think is in slightly our favour after the shield nerf. He wrecked our shield already, but now we can Nair his shield for free because his OoS options are all too slow to punish even if your timing is off by a couple of frames.
