This post contains a massive amount of gameplay vids so I decided to create a new topic instead of cramming it into the Pikachu vid topic. I hope that's ok. Anyhoo, on to my introduction.

I had a few battles with Anther yesterday and I'd like to know any tips there are for improving my Pikachu. I wish to improve myself anyway I can, so don't be afraid to be harsh on me. I also a few matches against other people if you'd like to look as well. I know its a huge amount of gameplay vids but perhaps someone will be bored enough to watch all of them. Or at the very least, will watch all the vids with Anther in them as he is incredibly awesome. Without further ado:

I don't think anyone is really good enough to give advice this early on, my advice: keep playing, never give up! :)

Nice vids, Anther is too good with Pikachu. I want to play you Dublio, my Pika vs your Pika. I'll use other characters too like Jiggs and Bowser. So do you accept my challenge?

Hey, I like your pika but I noticed that there were a couple times in your first vid with another that you chased with the down B and didn't short hop before using it, I think you can something out of short hopping before down Bing to catch them in the air more consistently.

Hey just looking at your pika videos...

The biggest problem I see with your pika is that 90% of the time you wait for anther to come at you and you try to respond to it. Pika is great in this respect because a lot of his moves are very spammable (dtilt, neutral b, dsmash, thunder) have good priority, and enough range and power to make them painful. However, as you notice in these videos, Anther rarely waits for you to come to him - he goes to you. He has several approaches and uses several mindgames to trick you into not responding correctly, where he gains the upper hand.

You need to develop your own approach game. Study Anther's different ways of approaching. A couple of somewhat effective ways are the full hop neutral b to whatever you want, the fastfall fair to dsmash/uptilt (and all differing heights of it), QAC (maybe... dunno about it so much as an approach), and run to shield right next to them. I think the reverse grab is also a good approach as well, but the key is to mix up the approach so that the opponent can't adjust to your attacks and get used to them. Pika happens to be fortunate with a lot of defensive, long lasting attacks, but that doesn't mean that you should just wait for them to come to you. Pika is even more fortunate with an incredible approach game (especially with neutral b - its like a beefed up Doc pill), so you should build it up.

Seriously, full hop neutral b ftw.

Otherwise, good stuff. I learned a bit from your pika; keep on going at it.

Why are there very few instances of QAC on both your's and Anther's part? Despite the discussion on these boards, is it not very effective?

Hi Anther!

And hi Dublio! ^_^

I've always wanted to go up against another Pikachu player who was REALLY good. But sadly, I've never had the opportunity to do this.

I mean, playing against people who are better than me - this approach seems to work better for improving my skills with Pikachu, rather than just watching videos.
