as a kill move, what's the difference between marth's up b facing the opponent and the up b going away from the opponent?

I always thought reversing just ensured the first hitbox was the only one that hit. Also, reversing extends the hitbox out more.

wait, no. I contest that there is any difference in the first hitboxes range from reverse to normal. I don't have a cube right now so i can't test it. Power i know is equal.

there is no difference at all

it's just that one [reverse(if you can land it)] is guaranteed to send someone as far as the perfectly spaced, first hitbox only other one. it's kind of hard to explain. but. yeah.

^ Yes.

And I saw M2K sometime using normal up-B to get sure to land near the ledge, instead of doing it reversal and thus landing away from the opponent.

Obviously if you're right in front of the ledge, you don't wanna reverse haha

So from what I gathered from this thread,
In Summary:
1) No difference in power
2) Slightly larger range(?) Still unsure about this one
3) Helps ensure that you hit with ONLY the first hitbox
4) Sends opponent at a better trajectory
5) Turns you around so that you grab the ledge

The hitbox extends, same amount of damage, and it's safer (By a tiiiiny bit)
By safer, what do you mean?

If you get hit by the strong initial hitbox, it's impossible to get hit by the attack again. They only take a weak hit if the strong one didn't connect at all, and I think it's better than not hitting them at all by reversing the attack as that way they'd have much more time to punish you.
