Okay, Discuss people.

Advantages, Disadvantages and Overall compatability rating (/10)

I love Kirby.

He's not my other secondary for no reason.

Edit:

Alright, this match up is a strange combination of strength, recovery and edgeguarding.

We have some disadvantages and some interesting advantages.

So after dicussion, we have come to a conclusion that kirby is an interesting match-up.

Not The best but marth and Kirby are not epic failure ^_^

Alright, so overall compatability: 6

Once again, we suffer from lack of a really good projectile or any kind of projectile block. Kirby's moves are quick, and have deceiving range, but Kirby is not a fast character in travel speed, which makes him hard pressed to help Marth. Kirby does provide excellent escape routes and sets with his Uthrow, but it's too trivial to have a significant baring on the match-up.

However, Kirby does have awesome finishers, which help Marth a bit. This team is unusual because due to Kirby relying on quick tilts, and Marth's good zoning, alongside both characters having awesome standing grab range, I would predict that they would probably fight best if they were side by side the whole match, though Marth usually like to split up from his partner. Mastering back to back fighting with Kirby could produce a very successful team, but would not be possible without significant practice. Using Marth's awesome tilt range, with Kirby's good tilt range and speed, this creates a wall from all sides that might be light, but would be very hard to penetrate.

Kirby would also be able to acquire ShieldBreaker from Marth, and if mastered, shield breaker rushing could be very effective at locking off opponent's defensive options. Still, Kirby's UpB, while being able to repel oncoming opponent's if Marth is nearby to protect, still does not count as a spamable projectile, and this team can be overcome by lots of spam.

Kirby generally would not interfere with Marth's recovery, and visa versa, and each can help the other recover to a degree, but Kirby is not fast enough to do this reliably.

Inhaling Marth and spitting him at oncoming foes is not reliable or smart, nor does it have anything to do with Marth. Do not suggest this.

Overall, I think this team hits a 6 out of 10.

I definitely agree with Pierce. I don't think this is a bad team, but it isn't really a great team either. Spitting Marth at people is stupid and pointless, But I heard Kirby's Shield Breaker is faster than Marth's, so swallowing might be a better idea. Kirby does have great tilts, and Marth's are good as well, so this could be a tilt centered battle for the most part. A Kirby and Marth wall would be very hard to penetrate, especially if you had Kirby above Marth or vice versa so it would be an actual wall that would be physically impossible to pass through unless you have like 5 jumps and you wanted to use them up to jump over the wall, but that would just be stupid. This team in a two on one could easily dominate, Kirby spitting people off the edge and Marth chasing for the kill. This is definitely a good gimping team, and I would give it a 6.5/10

Also, if Kirby spits out someone, don't they get their second jump back? If so, we have some to aid Marth in a land of broken recoveries. =O

Risky stuff yeah, but it can work for what it's worth.

Really Marth/ROB is like the zoning ownage.

edgeguarding beastiness on this team :o

kirbys dair/bair plus marths general **** makes it good for killing people off stage plus both are risky to edgeguard

kirby has big jumps a good spike and swallowcide

marth has a disjointed hitbox and invincible up b

kirby gives dddddddddddddd a hard time which is nice :)

umm idk this team is just mad random >_>

also to the people who think that like you can always have some stupid "wall" up stop overthinking lol >_> yeah ok like kirby will always be above marth they can just camp you brawl style like seriously LOL

marth grab to kirbys ridiculous fsmash or hammer is funny

kirby builds damage fast if hes left alone at low percents

i dont know theres really not much to discuss with this team

Instead of spitting marth out at the enemy....
Why not spit the enemy out at marth?
Sounds to me like a setup for shieldbreaker/tipped fsmash/etc.

Like said above, I think this isn't a bad matchup, but it's not a great one. One advantage is that they don't get in each other's way.

Although pierce I would like to mention that generally if projectiles are a problem, kirby usually can absorb someone's projectile so he is at least capable of being helpful when dealing with projectile spam.

Kirby is great at racking up damage....but I think he's not as great at it in doubles since a lot of his damage rack ups are actual combos out of his throw(And some that aren't combos). Most of these take too long to work in a doubles match where their partner can interupt it.

But something marth and kirby would do great together is creating an amazing wall of pain via kirby's bair and marth's fair/bair. SH double fair enemy into kirbies bair, sending them back to marth's fsmash....that's pretty hot(even untipped for all of marth's attacks, that's a good amount of damage and it can happen pretty fast).

Plus edge guarding is ridiculous since kirby doesn't need the edge so both can edge guard at once....hax =b
