I'm going to keep this brief, because there was a brown out last time I tried to post this, and it caused me to lose the essay long post on it.

When experimenting with RARFairing and backwards SHFairing, I noticed that the Fair hits the opponent's backward (predictable, not useful. One would use Bair with MUCH more intelligent spacing, or rather, just face forward). I also noticed that this would sometimes force a trip. Anyone know of this/have any more info?

It would be great to find out we get a bonus on BOTH ends of the sword.

lots of attacks by many characters you wouldn't expect to cause trips actually do. the thing is in most people's minds they are disregarded unless they are more than a 50% chance to trip and will do so at any percentage. ex: bananas: 1-999% damage, throw banana, get hit, 100% chance to trip. lucas d-tilt: 50% trip. not sure but i think marths neutral a will trip sometimes.

EDIT: oh sorry mystic missed what you meant by middle a. did you mean neutral a on ground, nair, or just the middle of the sword on the neutral a?
ok wow just edited like 4 times because i'm being distracted. i also meant to mention how diddy uses his bananas not only for banana locks and infinites, but he uses them to trip people from a safe range while setting up for combos, attack follow ups, grabs to set up for attacks, or even the banana choke chaingrab. what if marth and/or other characters were to perfect their tripping moves to be used the same way? i am aware that some characters like lucas will kill with FHFFdair>dtilt>fsmash, IC will kill with popo grab to nana fair to fsmash, and some zeldas will set up for an fsmash with their d tilt, but i do not mean to just set up a kill with a trip (thanks sakurai)... what i really mean is to set up for repetitive, inescapable damage. ex: tripping attack to tripping attack to tripping attack... etc (like diddy's banana lock) this could dangerously improve everyone's metagame and give some of those melee players those combos, speed, and fullness they say brawl is missing (or a little of it). what i'm really wondering is if this is possible. it is done with diddy because he can glide toss towards them and the bananas are a projectile. yet, the bananas are a little different than a dtilt. if you were to just dtilt, walk, dtilt... and actually perfect it... well lets just say it'd be sweet.

Now the only thing about that is the fact that most characters who can trip others with less than 50% chance usually never trip. Like Marths D-tilt Im pretty sure you get someone towards a wall and u D-tilt them they cant get out. But when your in the heat of battle and your punishing your opponent because of a roll with D-tilt. The chances of them Tripping is very slim and the closest thing you have towards a combo from their is another D-tilit or a grab. So Characters who can trip but not effectively will have problems trying to utilize their tripping abilities,. I hope that made sense.

this is known as a jab lock.

non-tip jab.
oh ok. sorry for the misundersdtanding.

oh, and just to clarify, i meant dtilt for other characters. it's not really marth's trip move. thats his non-tip jab as mystic said. also i usually don't think of marth's neutral a as a jab because well... he doesn't jab. in his d-tilt he does. so i sort of switch them in my mind. yet i do use the neutral a for fanning projectiles.
