This is gonna sound better than the title looks lol.

Marth's sword has a regular Fsmash hit and a tipper hit right? Say you are very close to Marth and he Fsmash's is that the same strength as if he hit you with his sword (untipperd)?
Just wanted to make sure.

While I'm not Magus, looking at frame data leads me to conclude no.

Marth's sword isn't only two hitboxes most of the time. During much of it, there are actually 3 hitboxes in the sword area and one odd one situated around Marth's torso. This is a big assumption, but I'm assuming that the hitboxes closer to Marth would be weaker, with the torso hitbox being the weakest.

But who knows? I'm not even good.

I thought the hitbox bubbles situated close to the hilt of the sword and his torso had a lower angle.

One could always take the character file and poke at it with a hex editor to make sure. But that would take work. Work isn't fun.

most of the time anyway =V

It does seem like they both do the same amount of knockback. I'm pretty sure the sword box gives a bigger SDI window than the arm hitbox.

If by strength you mean percent and not knockback then both do the same damage
