What the hell kind of question is that? Of course he should be in it! And I do believe he will, for the following reasons:
-Marth wasn't originally going to be included in the US version of Melee, but, due to all of the positive feedback he recieved, the developers decided to keep him in it.
-Marth is the original Fire Emblem hero.
-If they were to take Marth out, it would be in order to add another Fire Emblem character in. However, that wouldn't make sense, because why not just increase the number of Fire Emblem characters the game has instead by keeping Marth in and then adding some new ones? Otherwise it'd be kind of like taking out Mario to add in Wario, which didn't happen.
-Ken combo lolz.

why wouldn't they keep him

if they want to drop someone for ike or sothe or something, roy is a much better choice to drop, seeing as his game wasn't even in america, his game totally sucked balls, and even he totally sucks balls

Must you post this in the Marth forums? All responses will be from Marth players, so just assume they will all basically sum up to 'yes'. This should be in Brawl Character Discussion.

He should be in brawl because all of the games/series the characters in the SSB series are from are original. If you are going to include a game series in SSB, you HAVE to have the original character/hero, or it's just not worth it.

Meh, I guess they should keep him in. I'ma Mario man myself, but I've seen that Marth has a much larger fanbase than his clone Roy...so it'd make way more sense to drop him instead of Marth. I don't see why they would drop one of the most used characters, but it seems like Shiek might not make it and she was top tier...

Don't flame me, but I don't think marth should be in ssbb, and if he is, serious changes should be made.

Marth, along with sheik and peach, invoke more rage among smash players (mainly my friends) than any other characters.

Lmao, i like how u complain about marth, peach, and sheik. Yet u yourself use fox (the best charc in the game), sheik the cheapest, and peach the 2nd cheapest.

Yet u still complain about marth. >.>

No no no, don't misunderstand me. I never said that I myself never use the cheap characters (in fact, when playing with my friends, they refuses to play against my peach, sheik and marth).

First of all, why did you throw fox into this conversation? Yeah I use fox. Sue me.

And yes, I do know that sheik and peach are also very cheap characters. And while I am fully capable of using them in melee, I don't feel that characters like them should be in brawl.

And as for your 3rd point, i do not complain about marth. I merely comment about him. If Marth, Sheik and Peach were still in Brawl, I'd say "aw shucks", but I wouldn't complain.

I'm a marth player, never played a fire emblem game before, but I hear they are awesome, he is a cool looking character and alot of people seem to like him. (Once they look past the fact that he wears a tiara and alot of people seem to think he is a homosexual) I think he should be kept, along with everyone else in melee EXCEPT pichu and doctor mario.

I don't see any reason that they should get rid of him. It wouldn't make sence, they have already had him and proven that he can be a competent player with a large fanbase. On the other hand, because I'm not a marth player I could go for him being toned down just a bit.

The officially best SSBM player being a Marth main, I don't see why not.

I would rather see him replaced with a more recent swordsmen like Lyn or Ike or even a non-lord such as Guy or Karel. Hmm, poor Karel how I wish you could make it in.

Sothe would pwn by the way.

Guy and Karel weren't important to the story.

Japan hates all of the American GBA Fire Emblem games.

Ike is good, but his style is vastly different from Marth's. He just wouldn't be a suitable replacemet. He's a mercenary with a large sword (in comparison with Marth's) that has a ranged attack (which should actually be implemented this time. Roy's Sword of Seals had a ranged attack that was Fire based, but it never got used in Melee.) His style involves forcefull, single, horizontal strikes. Marth on the other hand is an elegant noble with a thin, light sword. His strikes are vertical (which makes a big difference in a 2D fighting game) and quick. His sword is lighter which allows him to move faster and, though his stikes are lacking in force (or at least they should be), each move flows to the next attack. I personally like Marth's style better, but some like for thier swordsmen to have muscle, too.

From the description and the screens it looks like he has a different moveset. At least to me, so that means Marth might still be in?

I think Marth will still be in the game, but with Ike's arrival as another Blue haired swordsman from Fire Emblem....well, his chances went down. If they integrated key parts of Marth into Ike and took him out, I wouldn't be too upset (namely, keep tippers and double fairs. Possibly chain grabbing fast fallers too). I think this more so just dooms Roy.

I'm thinking Sakurai would like to spice up the different fighting styles; not too many swordsman this time. And if Ganondorf is going to have his trademark weapons this time (which he may not, we don't know), I'm guessing the other Fire Emblem character will be an axe wielder; I'm guessing Hector.

Actually, his chances skyrocketed with Ike's confirmation because of one important thing on Ike's character page. The FE symbol.

They are still using the same symbol as Melee, which is Marth's legendary sword the Falcion. If they were planing to get rid of Marth then they would've change the symbol to either Lehran's Medalion in FE9 and 10 or Ragnell (Ike's sword).

Adding anyone from the American GBA FEs would completely alienate Japanese players. The GBA FEs were very poorly recieved in Japan and even despised. Though Hector would be a nice character addition, he would also be a bad FE addition. They should stick with Marth, Ike, and possibly another character from FE10 (Miciaiah or The Black Knight). Sigurd wouldn't be that bad of an addition either.

i hope that whoever gets left out that is simalar should b an alternate costume which u prolly can b able to unlock, cause it would still b a dissapointment to have them removed from the game completely, except 4 pichu and game and watch, those 2 just wasted space.

pichu can return to his poke ball
game and watch can go back to the 1980s

More likely than not, Marth will not be in it, since Ike will probably take over for him. But then again, who knows...

You should definately try out FE's 3 and 4. FE 3 is actually the first game and it's sequel put in one package. FE 4 was the game that starred one of the most popular FE characters in history,Sigurd.

FE 7 Blazing Sword got excellent ratings here in America, but was poorly recieved in Japan. I still recomend it, but I don't think any of their characters really stand a chance of making it in Brawl.

FE 8 wasn't particularly good, mostly because the game itself was to easy. The opposing force sent extremely large amounts of enemies to attack you, but they were all extremely weak in comparison to even your worst units. However I did like that you could continue the game "After the Game" with the creature campaign feature. This allowed you to revist maps and continue training your units after the game was over. You could even unlock characters that were originally enemies or NPCs.

FE 9 was the first well recieved international game and it's the one t that Ike is from. It was the first FE where the main character wasn't a Lord or Noble (though he was knighted to Lord status later in the game).

You should also check out FESS (Fire Emblem Sanctuary of Strategy)
