BB? Baby Bowser? That's Bowser when he was little. Bowser Jr. is most likely the youngest, in fact I could have sworn seeing that somewhere on an official site/booklet/whatever.
Bowser Jr. is Bowser's son, or so says Super Mario Sunshine. And apparently, Peach is the mother, who in turn, didn't even know...

Wait...

...That means... oh my God...

Nah, peach isn't the mother. Bowser tells him at the end end of the game that he made it all up.
Oh, okay. Yeah, I guess I forgot about that...

So where did he come from? And what about the Koopa Kids, when did they appear?

Baby Bowser, BTW, is literally baby Bowser - Bowser as a baby (for those who don't know).

The koopa kids + B jr. are bowser's children. They never really mention Bowser's wife (other then in a NP issue but that could have been a joke). Funny how Bowser Jr. thinks his mom is peach though. If he thought peach was his mom, he likely has never actually seen his mother (that or he doesn't know). Its likely that she died after Bowser Jr.'s birth or lives far away from them. Bowser did seem sad when he was talking to Jr. about his mother so either of the 2 options could work.

Or they're just a game mechanic that's not meant to be discussed.

Huh? Its mentioned IN the games that the koopa kids are bowser's children. They're definitely not just a "game mechanic". Plus, from the whole conversation between bowser and bowser jr, you can see that bowser jr is bowser's kid and has no idea who his mother is.

Exactly, they're definitely his kids, and the Koopalings have never been truly abandoned (especially as of recently).

I'm saying that it doesn't matter who his mother was. Bowser Jr. is simply Bowser's son, and that's all that matters. The Mario series doesn't need an explanation for its illogically designed enemies and bosses -- it's just to make the games more fun.

Ummmm.....no one is trying to figure out who his mother is. We just know that its not peach and that we've very likely never seen her in game.

Also, I don't really get what's wrong with discussing the mysteries behind the game. What you find useless doesn't have to be boring or useless for everyone else. For example, many people find the Zelda timeline discussion and mysteries to be boring and would rather just enjoy the games. The same thing applies here.

The two series are not quite as similar as you seem to think they are. Zelda is far more story-based, while Mario is not. I'm sure there are plenty of mysteries behind Mario, just like Zelda, but I just don't think the origin of Bowser Jr. is that important.

I don't mean to be rude or anything, but I find it quite odd that you complain that I speculate and theorize too much with Zelda, but you're doing exactly the same here about Mario, which actually consists of less mysteries and hidden storyline details.

But anyway, let's not turn this into a Mario VS Zelda debate. I'll come back when you guys think up a more interesting Mario mystery.

We were only trying to point out that nobody knows who the koopalings + bowser jr's mother is. Its fairly obvious that, at the current time, we won't be able to figure out WHO their mother is.

Waaaait....when did I complain that you speculate too much in zelda games? Also, just because mario isn't as deep as zelda doesn't mean we shouldn't discuss it. There are MANY games that are not nearly as deep as zelda. Doesn't mean they shouldn't discuss certain mysteries within the game.

So, I want to ask one about Rosalina, who IS she?

So, she lived in this "Mushroom World" (could be the Mushroom Kingdom), she then decided to go into outerspace as a child (I think if I'm remembering the storybook correctly, unless that was Peach and then I'm totally confused) and found the Luma, who was looking for its mother. And...somewhere I saw that Nintendo said she's related to Peach...

...yeah either I'm missing something, or I'm hoping SMG2 might do something to tie that up. Also I really feel that doing this, the Staff for the Mario games was actually trying to create some back-story instead of just "Let's go find Peach, save the day".

SMG2 is evidently a lot less story-driven as Galaxy was. They might not even explain that all. You won't hear any complaints from me. I didn't go into the Storybook hub at all during Galaxy.

Remember how the end of Galaxy showed that the universe consumed itself, then remade everything yet ever-so-slightly different? I'm pretty sure that's where this game begins, which means they pretty much destroyed all canon up until that point, and now anything goes.

I didn't particularly like the story itself either, it slowed down the momentum of the game (at least it was optional). But I mean, it was kind of cool to see that Nintendo TRIED to make something fit.

Makes enough sense. :/

Rosalina...?

She's God. Or something very, very simillar.

Hmm.... did Mario Galaxy reset the cannon? That'd be a good question to ask in the timeline thread.

Rosalina has a lot of powers (I remember he being 10x as tall as mario at the end of the game) and I think they come from the lumas. She, and her ship, get stronger the more stars you collect so I always assumed that the rod she holds gave her powers and that the rod was powered by the lumas.

A few things about Galaxy from my perspective:

-Rosalina has a father and a mother and a brother, so she can't be an all-powerful or they would be a major part of the story (other than the little one about where Rosalina came from).
-Lumas are supposed to be "babies" and the storybook was directed at them, so a "long long time ago" could be twenty years ago for all they cared since it was before they existed.
-I would think that the point after the explosion (right when the Lumas start desecending to the dark matter and creating a new galaxy [where the 151st star is at]) all of the characters blanked out and what you saw was Mario's dream (with the characters being dropped off via the starship while they're out and Rosalina is "talking" to them), plus why would Peach have fallen or Bowser hold his neck like that if it was completely a different timeline?
-Mario says "Welcome New Galaxy!" while looking at the bright light, not "Welcome New Universe!"
