i've tried doing thier b down recovery, but all it does is delay my eventual b up and not much else, i rise a little bit, but i fall more before i can b up. am i doing it wrong? i usually press b down, then tap b and hold the control stil to the direciton i wanna go.

Tap B faster , you're not doing it fast enough.
