Luigi's low traction

Well we all know Luigi's very unique low traction right? Where he slides around flat stages like a slippery green person he is. So I thought we might discuss luigi's unique quality and see what we've come up with. List its pros and cons and others you can think off.

I'll start off

+ Prevents him from being follow'd up by certain combos

- Spotdodging/power shielding plays a bigger role in luigi's overall game.

- Hard to shield grab with then usual.

+ Has a kickass hyphen smash.

+ Helps put distance between Luigi and sword users.

- Shielding attacks near the edge means you will fall off every time.

- Makes it necessary to shield-cancel every dash, or walk.

+ Allows Luigi to do a sliding downsmash.

+I think that Luigi slides too far for Diddy to combo with using his bananas

-sliding onto the edge from an A-combo =/= fun

+ZOMG HUGE glide tossing

+Possible Glide toss->jab Shoryuken combo.

+Possible Glide toss->Shoryuken combo. (can anyone do it yet?)
Yep, it's not that hard. Bananas are where it's at if that's what you're trying to do. Glide Toss to Jab FJP, the Glide Banana Toss trips them, the Jab stands them up, and the FJP is the profit. It happens so fast but it feels so intuitive. It's like your fingers want to do it anyway.

There's a video out there somewhere of some Luigi player owning his younger Diddy using brother where he does this a lot. Let me see if I have a link.

EDIT: Well, this isn't it, but it has a little bit of it: LUIGInfo Vol. 1
EDIT2: Nevermind. The video is of brothers in a Luigi vs. Diddy, but there's no Glide Tossing involved: Ultra Luigi vs. Ryuujin

Lol I made a thread about that video a while back. Ultra came on and was like "come on guuuuys, he's just a kiiid, lay off!" It was funny.

Anyway, awesome. Diddy can go hum on my nuts.

I've heard some professional players saying Luigi sliding away 90 million miles when his shield is hit means you can't put much shield pressure on him.

Which might be true, and that's good for keeping you safe in many situations, but...

The thing I would point out here is that sliding a lot means you are more easily pushed to the ledge, which does limit your options more often than not, and vs someone who has disjointed hitboxes, it can be tough to recover from the ledge without getting punished. Luigi also doesn't cover ground very quickly unless he Tornados, and this can be dangerous to do versus a character who has a safe attack that beats it! Like Marth's Sword/counter, and G&W's B-air.

Also unless you are godly at powershielding, low traction makes it really really hard to use the shield offensively. Which does suck, since punishing out of shield is a valuable tactic for closing distance between people who outrange you.

I played against a Diddy yesterday and wanted to glide toss -> upB, but I couldn't get the glide toss working >_> (and I lost that match, because at the end I nearly only used upB and never hit him...)
