According to the Character Rankings List which displays the success of characters at tournaments, Luigi is now last place. I knew Luigi was underused but wow...

Any thoughts on this?

I'm sad...I feel like going to tournaments now just so people know he still exists

I'm not sure why Luigi is so underrated.

High priority jabs
Cyclone is a good approach and perfect for putting your opponent into the air
Up tilt can rack up a ton of damage at early %
Neutral air is probably the best air attack in the game
Fire jump punch can kill almost anyone at 50-60% and it's rather easy to land, if given an opening (perfect punish move)
Aerials have good priority and are fast enough to strike multiple times
Forward smash is one of the best in terms of speed/power. Up angled forward smashes are extremely deadly
Cyclone prevents him from dying from lack of height. You can even recover from meteor smashes with it

Luigi certainly has his flaws (bad traction, super slow running and air speed, bad range, running attack and cyclone can easily be punished) but overall he's a great character. It really is mind boggling why so few people play as him.

It's probably the fact that there are people who use him but more likely as a secondary. Also the other Ex Luigi players out there ditched him for probably a god tier ***** character like Mk or snake or what not. This is why us Luigi players have to progress with Luigi's meta-game and start getting others to play and win tourneys for him.

It makes me sad to see a good character in last place.

Only bad characters should be underused, not the great ones!

But that's what makes it so great! Now we have his greatness all to ourselves! They don't know what they're missing.

at least a good luigi player might be able to rock a tournament against people who don't take luigi seriously. I kinda like being the underdog. xD

EDIT: I take back what i said after reading hippiedude92's post, he is right about a metagame evolving only if there are players to push it forward. The luigi boards are almost like a secluded cult o_O. I am going to try to support my favorite character x\ gonna be tough.

People are acting like being underused is a good thing... your opponent might not know your match up, and that is an advantage, but being underused has one major flaw. Lack of metagame advancement. In my mind with super low percent kills, solid recovery, and a very good air game, Luigi could be a threat to most characters. But with a lack of mains, and little metagame progression, Luigi will start to fall behind other characters and remain near the bottom of the character rankings list.

QFT! This man (or woman never know :bee:) says the truth. We can't find AT's like this, we don't have enough Luigi dedication. Look at the Lucario and Diddy boards. Even though they aren't doing crazy well in the touraments. They doing pretty well. We have the potential too, but we need to win the touraments , win the gold and start getting noticed in this world.
