Several ways, all of which are extremely time consuming.

The main way I can think of is to keep a dream journal every time you sleep. Force yourself to recall dreams. Point to things in the dreams that are "tells." Some of these tells include, but aren't limited to, clocks, mirrors, and light switches.

Clocks - They never work because your brain loses an accurate sense of time and can only estimate. Most clocks will change time every time you look at it.
Mirrors - The mirrors fail because it doesn't have the concrete abilities of an actual reflective surface. Your face will be distorted.
Light Switches - Light switches are instantaneous and electrical. Your brain may know how they work, but to do it the same way as real life is a stress and it usually malfunctions or doesn't work at all.

Start looking for these in dreams and you'll become lucid.

The downside is erratic sleeping patterns, your dreams adapting, and sometimes insomnia.

When you dream, you are sleeping extremely lightly. When you induce lucid dream you extend the period of dreams longer and make your sleep less restful. After enough times of it, your brain just decides to fight it, or at least mine did. My mind would create scenarios where all the tells of a dream were possible and true and even scare me from wanting to stay asleep. Finally, I would experience periods right after where I couldn't sleep at all.

I am not claiming any of these are actual medical conditions associated with lucid dreaming but these are all what I experienced.

CK is right. Being Lucid isn't all butterflies and lollypops like it would seem. Sleep paralysis, messed up sleeping habits, uncontrollable nightmares, are just a few of the downsides. I've had all of thoses (Except paralysis)

Oh DruggedFox its probably the other way around. "**** DruggedFox!" - Your Subconcious

Sleep paralysis! I forgot about that. I had it one several occasions some just after being lucid. It's hell.

Most the dreams I remember are these epic narratives, which pick up where they left off if I wake up and go back to sleep. I often play multiple roles in them.

One time I was, simultaneously, one of many robots that worked as a slave for this Empress and the Empress herself. The two characters ended up in a brutal fight to the death.

Another time I was an entire royal family, in a plot filled with backstabbing and betrayals in a battle for the throne, peace with other nations, and so on...

I have more but some of them are long enough I've taken up pages in Word just summarizing them, so I won't bother here.

I don't know if I'd call these lucid dreams, because I usually don't think I'm dreaming (when I interrupt them by waking up, in fact, it's been the other way around before). But they are very detailed and I am usually in as much control of what I do and what I say as I am when I'm awake.

Lol CK and silent jester. **** my subconscious in my dreams as soon as i have more than 1 dream a month/2 months. So SK and SJ would u actually prefer not having dreams at all, AND havin trouble starting to sleep, or be lucid? I personally wish i could be in the middle, because regular people probably have at least some lucid and /or enjoyable dreams dont they? Y CANT I HAVE DREAMS??!?!?!?!? Lol. If this post seems at all stupid to u, its because im trying to post as much as possible everywhere, while making sure i stay relevant. If it doesnt sound stupid, which i hope it doesnt, then could any1 tell me y some people dont dream much? And/or why they are bad 9-10 of the time? I love it when mods actually post to discuss things with us regular people not in the SBR xD. CK is awesome for that =).

Peace and thanks in advance

Play chess or something intellectual. It helps build your memory if you ask me... But I have great memorizing skills, so the dream journal part is no problem for me. Ever realize how amazingly f**cked up your dreams can be?

Yeah CK is the ub3r 1337 mod of epic awesomeness. I want to be in the middle myself. Remember you can control your thoughts and actions in the dream, but you can't control the scenario. As I said in an earlier post, I dream about war and death.

Sounds cool, I'm reading about it now and I'm a little confused. I swear there are sometimes when I'm really tired and I dose off and immediately go into a dream [not necessarily lucid] and I people/noises would wake me up and I'd dose off again and go into a dream again, normally a different dream.

Anyone know anything about what I'm experiencing?

And yes, I can verify that it doesn't take long for the dream to start because sometimes I remember the time before and after I sleep and wake.

I tried so many times to go Lucid, but all of them were resulted in failure. I only have them like two times a year. But when that happens, it always involve flying.

Oh, if anyone of you are interested on looking for more info, check out this forum.

I wanted to have a lucid dream so I did this...

In most dreams you can't control anything because you think everything is real sooo....

I wrote a giant "L" on my hand with a permanent marker and It was there all week. At first I looked at it a lot, but then it was just like wearing a watch or something.

At the end of the week I had a dream about a basketball game I was playing in. Halfway through the game I looked down at my hand and sure enough there was the "L."

I then realized that it was a dream and I could do whatever I wanted in my little dream world without consequences.

It was a KICK*** time lol.

I don't understand...why the letter "L"? And why did the letter being there mean it was a dream? If the letter L was at that point as natural as wearing a watch, then to someone who wears a watch IRL, would the watch on their wrist prove it is a dream?

If anything, shouldn't it just make it seem more lifelike that the letter "L" was on your wrist? Also, how did you manage to will yourself to look down at the L on your wrist, unless you were dreaming lucidly already?

The letter L was chosen randomly. I don't know why L ha. It just seemed bold....:ohwell:

I don't wear my watch to convince myself I'm dreaming. The L was for that sole purpose and only for about 5 days.

Whenever I looked at it, it reminded me why it was there. It was there to prove to myself that when I was dreaming I KNEW I was dreaming.

Why did I look at it in my dream? I have no idea. Probably because that was in my mind all week and my brain triggered it someway.

I hope that makes some sense .:dizzy:

That still seems strange. I mean, when I see monsters, I know that that is a sign that I am dreaming...but that doesn't mean that while dreaming I know it is a dream. Although I know something is fake, it still always seems real in a dream. Things aren't really that logical in the dream world. So looking at clocks, and having it change time, seems like it would have no effect when seeing inhuman things doesn't trigger my realization that I am dreaming.

I am still questioning whether or not I want to try this...I feel like Crimson scared me away from it.

I only had one lucid dream in my life... I was outside my house and I saw a dumpster, that had never been there before.

I realized in the dream that it was impossible for a dumpster to have materialized infront of my house, and figured I must be dreaming.

The thrill of it inside the dream was too much, almost 10 secs after I realized I was dreaming inside my dream, I woke up.

It was still an intresting experience to be concious in my subconcious. I hope I have another lucid dream sometime.

Likewise Im a big dreamer, I dream all the time, but I cant control them sadly. But I remember my dreams, almost all of them when I wake up, and if theyre really memorable I can remember them for the rest of my life.

Huh. I had heard from people that you sometimes pop sleeping pills to get a good nights sleep in sometimes CK.

I gotta say, it must SUCK being in that position...
I myself will just wait till I get one, if ever. I just think they sound so awesome. I know I've had dreams where I could control some aspects, but I didn't know it was a dream, and I generaly had little control over it all.

Interesting things, really.
You know what's strange Blackadder...

Remeber that time I was posting that crap about chasing you out of your home with gold robots because you wouldn't worship Marth etc.

I actually had that dream about a Month ago. I woke up, then fell asleep again. Afterwords, I was with lots of ladies. Then, Ky-Kiske from Guilty Gear shouted "COCONUT!!!", then I woke up.

Strange.

LMAO.
Wow that's creepy. In a cool, Hitler kinda way.
I have to say, after the weird PM thing ended (Summat about Black Jesus as a poke'mon? lol) I never really thought on it much, but this is just...
Well, amusing!

The ladies part sounds fun, though Ku-Kiske yelling "COCONUT!!!" is just downright awesome! That's all just cool Phoniex. I've never dreamt about anything Smashboards related, myself..

I like having lucid dreams where instead of waking up after you consciously choose to wake up within the dream, you wake up into another dream. That's your mind playing mindgames on itself.
