Okay, so I play competitively, and I main Lucas. I'm pretty sure that was already a given. I do pretty well, but let's see, I've lost to MK, GnW, ROB. I can't recall any other characters. Let's also say that it's not that I'm horrible against those characters, those just seemed to stick out to why I got bumped out a Tourny.

Now, I used to team with a marth/ness in teams. But it hasn't proved to be effective. My playstyle includes b-sticking, most of the ATs, besides the reverse magnet pull, I can't really land that down on will. but hey, it happens. okay, getting to the point, which character would benefit and work great with Lucas?

I've been thinking about D3 or Kirby, but I can't think of anything else. most of the TEAM vids are kind of old, and playstyles have changed since.

Ness and Lucas make a great team. We were almost unstoppable the other day... If team attack is on, they can heal each other, and use PK Thunda from a distance to give their partner another jump, if need be. They just work well together, in my opinion.

...Just don't fight double Marths.

Zelda is by far the best (in my opinion)as long as you're good at herding the opponent. You have to play extremely aggressive to make it work, though. Zelda stays back blasting Din's fires while you choose to score hits or absorb in the chaos. If anyone goes for Zelda, you have to go and pull em back. If it ever becomes a 2 on 1 situation, the Zelda/Lucas basically get a free win too. Din's fire=30% btw. Lucas becomes both the stock tank and the aggressor of this fight while both share kills (aggressive people getting up smashed by zelda or backstabbed by Lucas as they go for her.

But yea, that's just my opinion.

G&W and Lucas FTW! With team attack on it's so easy to fill up your bucket. G&W also really complements Lucas' game.

Yep. It's been confirmed. Ness and Lucas is an awesome team for 2 vs. 2 matches. In a doubles tournament I teamed up with Masky and we didn't lose a single match. Took first place like it was nothing. Of course, it helps that he has the one of the best Ness' in Florida, but still... Oppponents generally find it tough to handle all that PK Thunda at once. I've also seen quite a few videos where Lucas and Ness are a team and do really well.

Oh yeah... Is there no way to escape Marth's grab-release? One of the teams we fought had a Marth that kept doing that... Is the only way to escape is if Marth makes a mistake in the grab release?

That is correct. Once marth has you, you get to wait for him to make a mistake. I still recommend mashing out and hoping that he's not pressing A fast enough so that you have a chance for a jump break, but it's not gonna happen against someone who has a functioning right thumb.

Argh... I was afraid of that. I guess I'll just have to accept it...:( I hope sometime in the future someone finds a way to overcome this...

The cool thing about teams is that your teammate can help you out if the marth is sad-grabbing you. just have them hit the marth, but note that whoever's in the controller slot closer to slot 1 (you or the marth) is the one who will be sent flying, so that should determine whether your teammate wants to use a strong or weak attack.

You can DI away from after 20%, and he has to run to regrab, making it a chain grab instead of a standing infinite.

Still doesn't stop the fact that he can chain you to the end of the stage, than tipper smash you.

as i said in other topic, Marth's grab-release is not that bad
you can smash buttons and get free quickly, taking like only 3% per grab and you can stop is fsmash with a simple jab
