Lucas replacing Ness?

I would like Ness in, but if Lucas plays similarly to him then I would still care cuz I play him cauxe he's my favorite video game character. Jeff has a pretty good chance if they drop Ness cuz he was one of the most requested characters. I wouldn't be suprised if the mother series has 3 reps from looking at its places in the character polls.

I don't think Jeff could get in if Ness is out. Since MOTHER 1 doesn't have a chance in getting a rep in that case, MOTHER 3 characters are the only ones eligible.

If that scenario happens...this basically means "Farewell, Ness. I hardly knew ya." for me. I do not mind seeing Mother 3 characters, though.

Sakurai is obviously bringing back some of the things from the 64 version, so we can expect him back, AND one of the best characters for Brawl. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need a new pair of pants...

We can't expect him back. Whether we like it or not, we must accept the possibility that Ness won't return and that Lucas has succeeded him.

since the whole 12 are coming back this might just explain that he will become better than ness thus making him the new one....i think....

There's no proof that Lucas is replacing Ness. There are no images that show he has Ness' moves so yeaa, I'm pretty sure Ness will come back (although I don't personally care :])

That language certainly does not mean Ness will not be in Brawl. That statement just means that there is a known character from Smash Bros. who has been a part of the series up to this point. That does not say that Ness will no longer be in Smash Bros.

However, I will say that the wording does not improve Ness' chance of being in Brawl. I think Lucas is becoming another Luigi type of character. Not really a true clone of Ness, but very similar. Just like Luigi is not really a clone character of Mario, but he is very similar.

Lucas doesn't seem similar, he actually seems to have a larger array of attacks. A snake that can ledge grab? PK Ice and PK Thunder? Not to mention his original recovery and shield. He just all in general seems better then Ness. Most likely he will not show.

PK Fire just flies horizontally in the air and PK Freeze is just a PK Flash that freezes.

Lucas is looking better than Ness, and for that reason I'm glad he's out.

It says "up until now", I think we just have to move on, imagining that Ness had some character growth and highlights and a not completely horrible down smash. Another thing this confirms is that PK moves are not executed in a specified way. It's like Tae Kwon Do and Kung Fu, both use the body to fight but in different ways. Claus, for all we know, may use a badass lightning strike.
