Keep in mind that any FPS's for the PS3 will probably not interest me since I prefer PC FPS controls infinitely more to consoles. No real reason, just because they're better.:chuckle:
Well, see the "What game should I get" thread. I laid down quite a few non-FPS choices there--I don't particularly like them, so I don't tend to recommend them.

Have they given out any info as to how/when all the crossover Sackpeople can be obtained?

Also, anyone up for exchanging PSN IDs?

Maximus1490
Um, it's Soroxas. Don't laugh when I first signed on every name I could think of was taken. I was so anxious to play warhawk that I thought I'd use a temporary name and then get a real one later. Of course after playing I didn't want to start over. I'm used to it now but if there's some way to change it...
This game looks like it's going to do pretty well universally. It's one of two games I want for the PS3, but I can't justify a 600 dollar purchase with just that...
Fortunately the PS3 doesn't cost $600 anymore. Like Derek said, there is a lot of games on the PS3. Wether it's in store or online you can probably find more than 2 games that you like if you do a bit of research on the library.
God, there's so much to the PS3 these days it's insane... I'd give the games a second look if I were you, there's probably really more than 2 games that could spark your interest.

Customizing my Sackboy is becoming a bit of an obsession. I love in-game avatars, and this one just let's you run wild with it.

PSN ID: lazymangaka
Again, mine is Soroxas, add me! I'm a minimalist so I never put too much stuff on my sackboy but I too love to constantly change his outfit. I unlocked some pretty cool stuff playing co-op with my brother. We found a little sackboy doll so your sackboy can have a sack boy of his own! We were up until 1 in the morning trying to beat these levels. I don't think we done that since Super mario brothers 3.

Well, if you're like derek and I (and judging by your avatar you probably are) you can probably find a fair amount of games that suit your taste. I don't own any FPS ,the closest things would be warhawk and MGS4. There's Disgaia 3, Eternal Sonota and very soon (next week I think) Valkryia Chornicles. White Knight should be coming next year and level 5 had to go and be amazing devs again. There was recently a big media event at TGS and a lot of new information came out of it. Just take a look online at a site like IGN or something. Search under RPG's or whatever genre interest you.

Then of course there's the game that this topic is for. :D

Hmm, to be honest Eternal Sonota looks sort of meh, but I'll look into it. Valkyria Chronicles on the other hand actually looks really awesome, definitely worthy of further investigation. The gameplay in White Knight looks a little slow, but I'll wait and see for that one.

Does anyone know if the preorder codes are working yet?

Edit: according to Kotaku the servers are live, but the DLC is not, and according to comments contained therein the Kratos codes GameStop gave out must be entered at a separate us.playstation.com address to receive the actual codes, which is currently 404'ing and not up yet. Someone keep me posted when they do actually start dishing out DLC.

Also, there was an idea for part of a level I had implemented in the beta but never published: a moving Scoreboard. First, I put a dark matter block roughly 15 Sackboys in the air, then attached it to a non-anchored Scoreboard via elastic. I then attached roughly 20 meteor emitters all over the Scoreboard, maxed out the velocities, and staggered the start time/frequencies so that the thing was constantly jerking around with explosions all over the area below. That was a fun time...sadly, I never finished the rest of the level, so it never made its way to a server.

Done and done. I had heard there was a level pack, but maybe that'll be DLC later. Yay Minotaur costume!

I booted the game up long enough to run the HDD install and the 1.02 patch. Didn't get a patch prompt, so I shut the system off as I still have a ton of work to get done...after this Cal test blows over tomorrow I'll sink my teeth in. The game is sitting there in the system mocking me...

Also, Stephen Fry is amazing.

He really is. The tutorials are actually a joy to listen to instead something boring you just want to skip.

I played online today for a little while. There are actually a few pretty decent levels out there "A world of color" "Sackman Begins" and "Mirrors Edge" were some of the better ones. There are a few levels that are pretty bare bones, one I played was only made so you can get trophies. :/ Lame. It looks like a lot of people are just rushing to get something out there but I can tell that we're going to end up with a lot of good levels. I noticed that most people are not using the premade items and are instead creating all of their own stuff. That's a good sign but like I said since it takes awhile to make something some of the levels are pretty bare.

I started working on my first level today. It took some getting used to but in no time I had finished the first section. I'm working on something pretty big, I plan to use the entire length of the level, so it's going to take awhile. I'm also making most of my own stuff, backgrounds, etc.

I need to beat the game before I make any levels. Some levels I completed, grabbing EVERYTHING I saw, finish the level, and got all 39% of the items. Jesus. I notice the symbol on some stars on one level as the same thing on the horse that you have to put a tail on which gave you some items, but I have no idea what goes on them.

I love this game. Some trophies will require me to restart the game (the beating all levels and not dying one), but I love everything about restarting.

First hour impressions: after four days, I finally got to sit down and play 3-4 hours of LBP. The co-op is spectacular; I played through the first world with my little brother and it's loads of fun. I played every level and challenge through the first Frida level, and like CK said you can scour an ENTIRE level and come up 10-40% short on items. Playing through certain levels w/o dying can be tedious (like on the third level, where if you rush through the part with the ghosts you run into a speech bubble that stops your character and by the time you can move again a ghost has killed you), but it's so rewarding that it doesn't matter.

Also, I have so-so wifi and I had to disconnect my wireless router at one point because the PS3's repeated attempts to sync with the online servers while I was navigating the story mode menu nearly froze the game. Minor issue, and I'm sure if I had a better connection it wouldn't happen.

I notice the symbol on some stars on one level as the same thing on the horse that you have to put a tail on which gave you some items, but I have no idea what goes on them.
I could tell you this.

Overall, the gameplay is everything the beta promised. I haven't dove into the editor yet; I don't fancy going through all those tutorials again.

I wish I could have posted, my usual internet is down and I'm having to use a family computer right now.

Beat the story mode yesterday, funny ending, spectacular game.

Servers were up, so I got my DLC while they where, but they were takin down yesterday do to massive lag fests of unkown proportions. Hell I was lagging in the level creature.

Finally finished my level, had to go back and change things everytime I got a new object in the story mode. I overheated and was unable to put anymore =\

I'll have to try the fixed servers before I judge online, the first time they were up I lagged and was unable to find a single person to play with.

Yay LBP!

Whatever you do makes sure you find a good amount of items before you start a level. I started mine and then went back for more items and found a lot that would have been helpful to have earlier.

I've run into a problem though, the level I had orginally wanted to make is not going to fit without making the "Sections"really small. So now I'm not sure if I want to keep the sections small or turn this one level into 8 or so levels.

That's one thing I've really wondered. How much room do you have to put stuff in the levels? Can you legitimately build something as big as the story levels, or is it restricted by content?

You can put a lot of stuff in a single level. I guess I should explain what I meant. I've been recreating a littlebigplanet version of Kingdom Hearts. So I wanted to have have every level represented in a single level of LittleBigPlanet. But there's not not enough room for me to put 12 or so levels in one and still make it fun. There's a lot to work with in world like Alladdin ,palace, cave of wonders, etc and it wouldn't be well represented the way I'm doing it right now. The Travers Town I made looks like Traverse Town but it's really tiny.

So the short answer would be yes, you can legitimately build something as big as the story levels. I just wanted to make something bigger than that. :p

Also, does anyone know how to save objects you've created yourself? What about uploading music? Is that even possible?

I know you can use photos... Maybe with a patch, but I doubt as it stands right now, what with the worries of music piracy and whatnot...

Can you load photos from a USB drive, or do they have to be taken via the PS Eye or obtained via community? This is bugging me.
Oooh, good question... I think you can use any photos that are on the PS3 itself, and probably photos from a USB drive as well. The photos that were used in the IGN Game Scoop level didn't appear to be PS Eye photos, and they definitely weren't community, so there must be a way to just upload them.

Alright. I'm probably going to pick this game up once I actually get around to buying a PS3 (around Christmas time, using money from relatives). But, is this a Spore-like letdown, or is this game worth what everybody was saying it is?

100% worth it. I'm not much of a gaming community guy, or a user-created content guy, but I can see myself getting deep into this game, both creating levels and just playing what other people create.

I'd go find a LittleBigPlanet forum to start posting on, but I have my loyalties here (even though I don't play a great deal of Smash anymore).

It is by no means a "Spore". It lives up to everything save reliable servers, but if the entire Western Hemisphere was pinging me at once I'd be frazzled too. That should be worked out soon.

I love the Minotaur costume.

Same same. If other forums are as uptight about post count as SWF is, I don't even want to bother.

The patch sent out today made the online so much better. I didn't have a single problem today.

I published my first level today and got some nice feedback. So far most users are describing it as "Pretty" or "Beautiful" but I did get one rubbish rating. :p As far as I can tell the more people use a word the larger it get's so the word pretty was big but rubbish was really small. :D

I didn't get it exactly how I wanted it but I came close. There were some things I did that I couldn't go back and fix without starting over. I'm pretty happy with how it came out though.

Here's some tips for anyone who is feeling frustrated, maybe you can avoid some of the mistakes I made. Unless something needs to be connected, don't connect it. It's not very fun when you need to fix one thing and you lift up the entire level. As long as your object is heavy it won't move when people are playing the level. Tying everything down will just create a headache for you.

Play the story mode thoroughly. The more items you have the easier things will be. I spent my time the other day creating a object only the play story mode again and find that what I needed was already there.

Play all the tutorials. The ? mark that appears in popit, click it until you've done them all. This opens all of the tools that you might think are "missing".

Don't use all of the 3 planes unless you have to. Similar to connecting everything only use 3 planes when you need to prevent people from falling, for puzzles, etc.

So has anyone else put up any levels yet?

Story levels were built with level creator, maybe not with the designers flying around with sackboys taking forever to get somewhere or having limited zoom, but still with the same size level creator. They even allow you to use the design of certain levels from the story, without the puzzles and items and whatnot, and it fits in the level creator.

Finally got the Sackzilla costume.

Did anyone see the DLC coming soon? It's amazing! Pumpkin Head!

Also, I love that they used the in-game editor to build everything. That was my problem with Spore; the Grox were impossible to make with the editor and killed it for me.

Pumpkin head looks cool.

two dollars for Old Snake and Sephiroth seems like a bit much, especially since they are free to make for the developers. I suppose Copyright Laws are to blame for the price, but what are you gonna do? Nobody is forcing you to buy them.

Got the Chinese Dragon head today, you need at least three people (even if it says four three is enough to reach it) so I just turned on my other two [working] SixAxis controllers and popped on up.

99 cents for regular costumes.

Don't know what new skins cost but I won't buy them because I love the regular brown skin so much.

The Collectors Lair, it's at the part where you need four people to do it (but really you only need three) you grab the sponge that brings you up and step on switches that rise the platforms to the area the costume is at. But with three people the persona t the top acan jump to it.

Devil Costume is in The Frozen Tundra at the place you need four people to get it. You DO need four people for that.

Wait, four people? I have two controllers...no way am I paying $110 for a costume.

I need to find other people with controllers...you can do story mode levels online, right? How does colecting objects work there?
Yes you can do story levels online, when collecting new objects there it doesn't matter who gets them if someone doesn't have that object they get it even if that person already has the object. If they already have the object it will appear to them as a score bubble, but to you as a prize bubble so if they get it you get it it as well. That's the whole idea of Co-op and teamwork to get certain items, online or off.

So if your online in story mode don't be surprised if someone goes for an empty prize bubble, it might be an item for them.

Just rally up some people and ask if they wanna go get _____ costume with you, I'm sure they'd be glad to help.

I can understand how he made all of that but the ship to move in any direction. The Gun is obviously a switch activated emulator. But how did he get that blasted thing to move!? And when did Japan get LBP?

@TheExecutive: I've already gotten most of the co-op items, I wouldn't remember where they were anyway, and wouldn't bother to check..

My favorite levels are those with music themes and such, my favorite being the MGS theme. Albeit it's a short version. I've seen one for the Old Snake theme but never bothered to check it out.

Kid at my school says this game sucks ***, the gameplay is ********, too much work to create stuff, and that it feels like it should have been a mini-game in a bigger game, or a game of mini-games.

So, on a scale of one to ten, how wrong is he?

10, because he is just too stupid to make things. It isn't THAT complicated at all, once you get a basic understanding of the physics, switches, and different screws you can really make something worth playing. The Gameplay is ********? Platformers are ********? Platformers were some of the first, and greatest games ever created.

Tell him he needs to try the game, and to stop sucking Master Chiefs **** because he is obviously an Xbox fan.

It's true. I was going to mention that he thinks Halo is the greatest series of all time, but I didn't want to embarrass him too much.
