Were they "blatant could only come from there" excerpts, or were they just "haha that sounds like a line from the Qur'an" excerpts?

Maybe they should just not buy/listen to it. The rest of the world deals with their problems, why can't they?

This is years old by internet standards.

The lyrics were meant to be sarcastic, they were...

‘All that is on earth will perish’

‘Every soul shall have the taste of death’

I don't see the offense. But oh well.

The guys from EB rang my housemate Phil who has the game on preorder yesterday. There conversation went kind of like this:

"Hi, this is Dave from EB games, just calling about your LittleBigPlanet preorder? Yeah, it's --"
"-- Been delayed, recalled, I know."
"... uhh, yeah, you know because it--"
"-- had lyrics in one of the songs from the Qu'Ran. I know."
"...... Oh. Well, we'll let you know when we get it in, should be early November"
"Thanks"
"Thanks, cya"

We both agreed he should have just screamed "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD" down the phone and slammed down the reciever.

Where is this? It's released next week in the U.S.A. so I suppose if it was released next Sunday or Saturday it would be early November.

Australia. Truth be told, I don't know exactly when it's coming out down here. I can't remember exactly what phil told me about that. I kind of guessed that last bit. I'll ask him exactly when he expects to get it and post that here. Sorry...

Interesting how you blame Muslims in general for the problems caused by a small minority.

While you're at it, you might as well blame the John Paul II for the crusades, or your Christian next door neighbor for the ridiculous, hateful things Pat Robertson has said.

I'm not sure how I feel about this situation, but blaming all Muslims for it just because a few of them are radicals and terrorists is ridiculous.

It's not a radical or terrorist with a terrorist plot to delay fun globally, it was actually a polite kindly worded email from someone of the Muslim faith claiming to take offense in the Qur'an lyrics. And MM, fearing bad PR and obviously the offense of any other Muslims delayed the game to avoid offended anyone in, what they claim, a game thats all about fun.

Being offended isn't very fun.

I wasn't saying this was radical or terrorist.

The poster I quoted seemed to be implying that Muslims shouldn't be bothered by this, because some of them are terrorists. I thought that was a really dumb thing to insinuate.

You really managed to mangle my meaning there. Oh well.

Er, I think it's you who's making the mistake here. The poster you quoted didn't say anything about terrorist and I'm quite sure he wasn't trying to insnuate anything like that at all.

"Maybe they should just not buy/listen to it. The rest of the world deals with their problems, why can't they?"

Or rather "I can't get a product recalled just because I don't like it so why should they? Everyone has something that offends them, we just deal with it."

Reading it again I'm not sure how you thought that's what he meant. lol as if terrorist are going to be out buying video games.

He was grouping all Muslims together, as if they were all causing "problems" that the rest of the world had to deal with. And therefore they had no right to complain about this.

If it wasn't terrorism he was talking about, what is it?

And, frankly, I'm pretty sure that if a game stuck some Old Testament phrases in their game and lots of Christians got offended by it, they'd react the same way. Game companies that try to have this kind of family appeal can't afford to offend anybody. It would lose them money, far more so than delaying the game a week would.

If a game making company wants to sell to younger, more family demographics, they have to make sure they stay politically correct.

no your wrong buy reading it more then once im sure he means everybody has problems but they deal with them and the people offended by that should just deal with it. having those lyrics doesn't hurt anyone.
if a game came out with something i found offensive and i was planning to buy i would just ignore the offensive things. if whatever was offensive is a huge part of the game i would not buy the game.

also couldn't they just realese a patch instead of delaying the game?

This was said in the other thread, not everyone has access to the internet on their PS3's so not everyone would be able to receive the patch.

We will always remember this day as the day we almost had Little Big Planet. (In the U.S.)
