I already posted this song in another thread, but I'll link it again.

This song has already been posted.. but I don't really care! I still love to listen t it!! Hyrule Warriors really surprised me by how good of a game it was. Maybe it was because it was the first 'Warriors' game I played, but It is definitely a game to remember to me.

Some more songs:

Tales of the World Radiant Mythology 2 - Seeking Victory by Go Shiina
This one is a remix of Seeking Victory from Tales of Legendia. A really good battle song that's different from most Tales.

Tales of the World Radiant Mythology 2 - Into the Battle by Go Shiina
A new song that isn't a remix, one made for RM2.

Tales of VS. Theme of Battle by Go Shiina
This song was actually composed by Motoi Sakuraba in Tales of Destiny 2, rearranged by Go Shiina. The original is really good as well.

Tales of Zestiria - Flaming Bonds Are Being Tested by Go Shiina
Another ToZ track on one of the elemental temples dungeons. Just like the other ones, really good.

Tales of Zestiria - Existence to be Feared by Go Shiina
Last Go Shiina one I'll post for today. Another good Zestiria song done by him.

Tales of Eternia - Celestia Battle by Motoi Sakuraba
Probably my favorite PS1 Tales battle theme. Really catchy and cool once you get to Celestia.

The music in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate was really awesome and I felt I boost the tensions of a lot of the fights and even kept the interesting one the ones that late very long. I would have liked to put song Monster Hunter 4 music here, but I've been to busy lately and haven't played it enough.

Question: Would it be appropriate to put some movie music on the thread too?

Taking a break from posting just JRPG songs right now. Going to share some songs from the sound novel, Umineko no Naku Koro ni. It's your typical visual novel styled game where you mostly read. This game actually gives no choices until the very last episode, but it focuses on the mystery aspect and encourages the reader to solve the mystery with the characters.

A game about a family gathering on an island that ends up being an incident known as the Rokkenjima Massacre. The further you progress, the further you understand what really occurred on that day. The game throws elements of fantasy and magic, but you can't take everything you see or read at face value or else you'll end up missing out on the real hints the game gives you. The game consists of 8 episodes. The first 4 episodes tells you the mysteries surrounding the massacre and the family while the last 4 episodes basically give all the answers. I highly suggest any fan of VNs to check it out. The game might be really long and even slow, but it's done really well.

There's an anime that covers the first half of Umineko but I'll say it in red,
The anime did an awful job adapting if you haven't read it, avoid watching it at all cost as your first exposure

As for the songs:

Umineko no Naku Koro ni - Resurrected Replayer
One of my favorite battle themes that actually takes bits and pieces from other songs as well.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni - Worldend Dominator
Another battle song. Pretty good, but there's better from the OST.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni - Mirage Coordinator
This battle song's pretty good. Might be my favorite battle theme of the game.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni - Lastend Conductor
A pretty good but long song.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni - Far
Finally not a battle song. I really do love this song. Where it plays is one of the saddest moments and where the reader is able to discover more of what went on in the past. A really powerful song if you've played the game.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni - Dear You
Like my last post, I'll do something that's similar but different. This is from Higurashi and it's a vocal. Another good sound novel that is related to Umineko. Unfortunately this song (and many other great songs) were only for the game and never made it into the anime if I recall correctly.

Umineko's one of my favorites, and I suggest anyone that's interest in VNs to try it out. You'll have to figure out where though since it's only fan translated (but the creator of the game actually supports the fan translation team).

Speaking of songs with lyrics, I have another two songs to add on (both franchises have already been mentioned).

FE9:
Life Returns: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4g3qY0GpJB0

---------------

The second one is something that makes me wish that some of the songs in video-games stayed in their original form. It's clear that the translators did a direct instead of a conceptual translation, meaning that the song doesn't sound quite right in the English. Luckily, the music (outside of the lyrics) is pretty good, so it makes up for the bad translation. I'm putting it in the Music Appreciation Thread not because I appreciate all aspects of this song, but so we can appreciate all of the well-translated or unaltered vocal songs and have a comparison point as to what it could be.

Chibi-Robo:
Space Hunter Gicchoman theme (Japanese): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjLiLKIM7uQ
Space Hunter Drake Redcrest theme (English): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sx-0pIVXEEo

Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal are my favorite Pokemon game (I would say the remakes are better). I feel that this game was one of the first times I realized how much music and pull you into a game and make you feel at home. These are some of my favs form G/S/C
P.S. the remakes of the songs sounded great! But there is nothing like hearing some good old-fashioned 8-bit!

A lot of Pokemon posts lately, so I'll add a couple too.

I would personally consider Gen III to have the weakest OST in the series, so I didn't go into ORAS expecting much. I wasn't really all that surprised at what we got...
Until I started Episode Delta and met Zinnia. This song started playing and I just stopped everything. That one song is so much better than the rest of ORAS's OST, I had to stop and listen to it whenever it played.
Anyways, fast forward to the end of Episode Delta and we get one last fight with Zinnia, and what do you know, she also get's the best battle theme in the game! It fits well with her encounter theme, which makes it a nice way to conclude her story in this game. It's a shame these two songs just missed out on making it into Smash 4.

Maybe I'll go into my thoughts on the music in Pokemon again sometime, but first...

Umineko has a really good OST. I enjoyed the Higurashi anime, so I had my eyes on on Umineko for years before I read it. I wanted to make sure I did the right thing with Umineko though, so I waited until all the novels were translated before starting it.

There's a very good reason Umineko is called a sound novel instead of a visual novel, and it's not because of the lackluster art found in the original novels. The music really goes a long way in setting the mood for the story.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni - Dead Angle
A song for investigations. It starts of simple, but grows in a way that's perfect for the intense scenes that need to be investigated throughout the series.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni - Dread of the grave -More fear-
There's a lot of pointing fingers in this series, it would have been a crime to not have something that sounds like it could work in Ace Attorney.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni - wingless
A track for some of the sad moments in the series.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni - Mortal stampede
A nice upbeat song.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni - golden slaughter
Let's just say some bad things are happening now.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni - Dir
A nice piano focused track.

I really enjoyed playing through Umineko. I won't forget the story or the music anytime soon.

Eeehh... I wouldn't say R/S the weakest, I'd say B/W would win that spot.

Imo, D/P/Pt had a pretty weak soundtrack. There were some tracks from the game I enjoyed, but compared to R/S/E's soundtrack, it's not very good. The latter had a pretty awesome soundtrack, I think.

Just a couple examples.

While I haven't managed to play Demon Souls, I have played both Dark Souls 1/2 and the sound tracks on that game were phenomenal. Since all of the areas didn't have any music it really changed the mood when you would walk into a boss room and be struck by the next creature you had to fight along with the insanely intense music that was starting up! I am so disappointed that I won't be able to play Bloodborne since I don't have a PS4, that game looks godly!
But here are some songs from the first Dark Souls that really stood out.
P.S. I'll probably be back to post some Dark Souls 2 songs.

Man, deciding between which of the Dark Souls game is better is really hard. I realize that many fans of the Souls series hate Dark Souls 2, but I thought it was a fantastic game just like the first. However, the boss in Dark Souls 2 were really lacking at times...

OMG, thank you so much for showing me that video!
And I would also agree that the Sonic Adventure songs are really awesome! (I mean who doesn't know of "Escape From the City")
But since we are on Sonic songs:
Honestly in my top 10 video game songs, it just matches the style and speed of the level beautifully!

I personally think Escape from the City's an overrated song. I thought it sounded too cheesy compared to another song from SA2 I like the most (Live and Learn).

Anyway, I might as well give tribute to my favorite Sonic game of all time:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4L4TSrDB4M
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vaBxXCH9b8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LYB7iLZNWE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jl6kjAkVw_s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpU5640iE5k

All Sonic games on the Genesis have good music, but Sonic 2 tops them all, imo.

I'm in a Go Shiina mood again, so I'm going to share more of songs. Hopefully it makes some of you guys fans of his works.

Tales of Legendia - Enemy Attack
Tales of Legendia - Chasing Shirley
Tales of Legendia - Short Circuit

Tales of Legendia's OST is by far the best thing about it. Go Shiina tries out his own style without trying to match previous Tales games and the result was amazing. For a series that keeps getting churned out with sequels, a lot of effort was put into this OST.

Idolm@ster - Aoi Tori

Now for the something different yet similar, here's a good one. Sung Asami Imai as Chihaya, this is also another track by Go Shiina. He doesn't do too many tracks for this series, but he's made some really good ones. This is probably one of my favorite tracks from the series. The piano, especially towards the end, certainly express his style.

Well then, this went a little out of control, haha.
It was supposed to be a simple look at the series, but as I went further I kept finding more I wanted to add, and it quickly became a retrospective on the music of the Pokemon games.
It was surprisingly easy to make, I just had to add some words while listening to a song, but since I only added small parts every now and then, it took a while.
I realize there's more words than most people will bother to read, but I don't regret making this since it was mostly just me wanting to listen to Pokemon music.
And with that out of the way, let's get started!

It all starts with Gen I and that opening theme. That unforgettable opening theme.
Next there's the simple but catchy Route 1 theme, which is sure to get stuck in your head.
The battle themes, Wild Pokemon Battle, Trainer Battle, and Gym Battle are all classics, and still stand as some of the best battle themes in the series.
The Gym theme and Victory Road do wonderful jobs at getting the player psyched for the battle ahead.
And I'll end Gen I with the last battle theme we hear, the Chapion's Theme. And what a theme, very few champion battle themes have managed to surpass it.
Gen II is all about MORE. More Pokemon, more towns, more gyms, and of course, more music. My favorite Gen, though the dated mechanics make it hard to go back to the originals, it still gave me some of my favorite music in the series.
To start off, our Rival now has a unique battle theme, something all rivals will have going forward.
And so does Team Rocket! These traditions start here, and they're still some of my favorite of those battle themes.
Wild Pokemon, Trainers, and Gyms all have new themes too, they're really good.
Crystal also gives us our first legendary battle theme, Suicune, Entei, and Raikou are some of my favorite legendaries in the series, and so is their battle theme.
Indigo Plateau gets us ready for our final battle much like Victory Road before.
As I said before, very few champions have battle themes that surpass Gen I's, but it didn't take long to get the first one to pull it off. Vs. Lance/Red has always been one of my favorite themes in the series. The fact that this is shared with the only previous playable character character we get to fight in the series makes it stand out all the more.
Oh, but we're not actually done, it's time to go back to Kanto with the Wild Pokemon, Trainers, and Gym battle themes!
So, Gen III. This is the generation I originally skipped. I went back and played the games after Gen IV brought me back, but they just didn't do much for me. That doesn't mean that there isn't some good music to be found though.
Wild Pokemon, Trainers, and Gyms. They're okay.
The PokeMart. Alright, this song is pretty good, gotta go buy some Pokeballs.
The Rival battle them is actually one of my favorites in the series. It's playful compared to Gen I's Champion theme and Gen II's rival battle, which is perfect since Gen III's rival is much friendlier.
The Team Aqua/Magma hideout theme is also really good.
The Team Aqua/Magma leader themes are good too, almost makes up for the grunt battle theme not being worth talking about.
The box legendary battle theme is decent.
Victory Road, the best theme in Gen III, and the best Victory Road theme in the series.
The Elite Four finally get their own battle theme, and it's pretty good. Which is actually a little unfortunate, because it ends up completely overshadowing the Champion's forgettable theme, perhaps they should have been switched around.
Emerald gives us the Frontier Brain battle theme, a song I find to be quite a bit better than most of the battle themes found in Gen III.
Gen III is also the start of the remakes. The great music of Gen I is back, and I doubt it's going to be the last time it returns.
Classic Wild Pokemon, Trainers, and Gyms!
The Champion theme, still so good. A shame Steven's theme was nowhere close to this though.
Deoxys' theme actually first shows up in Fire Red/Leaf Green, It's unfortunate that Gen III couldn't give us more themes like this. It's the first sign of some of the really creative songs we'll end up hearing in the later games.
With Gen IV, Game Freak decided to take more risks with a few songs in the soundtrack. That gives Gen IV a bit of an edge over Gen III for me, because overall I don't think Gen IV is that much better, but the songs I like from it I really like.
Let's start with the Opening, which starts off sounding mysterious before going into the standard Pokemon opening music. It's a good way to start these games given the kinds of lengendaries we meet in them.
Gen III's Pokemart theme is back, and still good. Gotta go buy some Super Repels!
More Wild Pokemon, Trainers, and Gyms. Again, they're okay. I like these a little more than Gen III's, but they're still nowhere near as memorable as Gen I and II's.
Rival battle. Eh, it's okay, but probably the weakest Rival battle in the series.
Encounter Team Galactic. This is pretty good, a great fit for some sleazy villains.
Team Galactic Building. Pokemon has never seen such a slimy bunch of thieves.
Team Galactic Grunt Battle, nice, the grunts in the evil team have a good battle theme again!
Team Galactic Commander Battle, fits in nicely with the previous Team Galactic themes.
Team Galactic Boss Battle, it's a different kind of song from the other Team Galactic themes, but it's not bad.
Uxie & Mesprit & Azelf Battle, not bad, it sounds powerful, but not in a way that's oppressive, it works for these legendaries.
The Game Corner, the last time we'd be able to gamble in Pokemon(at least until the wondertrade, Wurmple :/, Wurmple :\, 6IV shiny Metagross?!), it's catchy and cheesy in all the right ways.
Mt. Coronet. Alright, one of my favorite area themes in the series. I've always been fond of snowy areas in video games, and this theme captures those kind of areas very well. This song has stood out to me from the moment I first reached it.
Spear Pillar, an ominous theme perfect for the the location where we fight a couple of gods.
Dialga and Palkia Battle. This is a big change from Spear Pillar's tone, instead of trying to make the player fear the power before them, it just sounds otherworldly. A great choice for the fight against those that control time and space.
Stark Mountain is perfect for exploring a volcano.
Platinum gives us the Distortion World, an ambient track, something that doesn't happen often in the series, which helps make the trip into this strange world stand out all the more. Bonus points for the song leading into...
Giratina Battle. This song is all over the place, it's so strange, and I love it. I couldn't ask for a better theme for a creature that lives in a world so alien to humans.
And to end the main Gen IV games, it's time I talk about the best champion in the series. Cynthia's encounter theme lets us know that we a standing before the strongest trainer in all of Sinnoh. This elegant piano theme has always stood out for me, it's so different from everything I'm used to in Pokemon, what could possibly follow?
Champion Cynthia's Battle Theme. I love this song. It's easily up there with Vs. Lance/Red as one of my favorite battle themes in the series.
The Gen II remakes, I like what they did here more than the Gen I remakes. Maybe it's because of better hardware.
Wild Pokemon, Trainers, and Gyms return, as do Kanto's Wild Pokemon, Trainers, and Gyms.
Suicune, Entei, and Raikou get slightly different themes now. Each fitting the type of the Pokemon they're for.
The Rival's Battle Theme is still good.
So is Team Rocket's Battle theme.
Ecruteak City's theme now has eastern instruments, it works really well. As do many other tracks, like the Burned Tower and the Bell Tower.
Lugia and Ho-Oh finally get their own themes.
And of course, Champion Lance/Red's Battle Theme.
Now for Gen V. It's kind of funny looking back, I call Gens III & IV some of the weaker soundtracks in the series, but they have more links than Gens I & II, I guess quantity is on their side. Anyways, Gen V is actually where I think Game Freak gets things together again with the soundtracks.
To start Gen V off, we get an Opening unlike anything before it. Fitting that we start with something grand for the only games in the series with a decent story.
And of course there's Wild Pokemon, Trainers, and Gyms! Gen III and IV's didn't do much for me, but Game Freak finally pulled around, these a great!
And special to Gen V, when you get the Gym Leader down to their last Pokemon, a battle version of the Pokemon Theme starts playing, which is really cool, I'm kind of sad it's not back in Gen VI.
Professor Juniper's Theme sounds like something out of Ace Attorney, and I'm okay with that.
Gate, which plays in special buildings between routes. It's a nice peaceful track that most people are likely not going to stop and listen to.
Gen V has some great town themes to be found, something Gen III & IV lacked. Accumula Town, Nimbasa City, Driftveil City, Opelucid City(White), and Lacunosa Town.
Unwavering Emotions, huh, who knew Pokemon could do touching music, maybe they should put a little effort into the story more often.
Rival Cheren & Bianca, I really didn't expect such a playful theme when I first started the game, but I like it, it works nicely for a competition between close friends.
N Battle, and N Decisive Battle, perhaps N can be called the real rival of B/W. It may not be as catchy as other rival battle themes, but it's fittingly mysterious for the character.
Speaking of N, N's Castle is great.
Team Plasma has the best evil team battle theme in the series, this is not up for debate.
Ghetsis Battle, intense drums for the fight against B/W's main villain.
Zekrom and Reshiram's, as well as Kyurem's Battle theme's are really good, possible my favorite box legendary battle themes.
I also like the standard Legendary Battle theme.
Elite Four Battle Theme, not bad.
Champion Alder's Encounter Theme is really good.
Champion Alder's Battle theme. It doesn't stand out as well as some other Champion battle themes, but it's decent.
Dragonspiral Tower is really nice, kind of makes me want to go play Chrono Trigger though for some reason.
The Entralink has really nice theme.
Ending Theme. I guess it shouldn't be a surprise that B/W does something different with its ending theme as well, this is really nice.
And to end things with B/W, Route 10. Wow. I don't have words, simply amazing.
Oh yeah, the only time I'll link something from outside of the main Pokemon games, Yoko Shimomura's cover of Route 10 found in SSB4 is beautiful.
Gen V didn't have a remake, but its "third" game was actually a sequel, so its music get's its own section.
The same Wild Pokemon, Trainers, and Gym battle themes are back, though slightly different. As is the Gym Leader's last Pokemon theme.
Team Plasma is back too. Unfortunately, I like the original version a little more, but this is still good.
The new rival has some good themes, Encounter Theme, and Battle Theme.
Colress' Battle Theme. SCIENCE!!!!
Fused Kyurem Battle Theme. Tense, but not as good as B/W's box legendary battle themes.
Ghetsis Battle Theme is back. With more going on than before, I like it more than the old one.
N's Battle Theme is also back.
And I'll end it with Champion Iris' Battle Theme. A playful theme, quite different from what we're used to with Champion battles, but it works with the character. It's a good step up from Alder's battle theme.
Finally Gen VI. Gen V was a tough act to follow, but Gen VI has some good music.
Let's start off with the new Wild Pokemon, Trainers, and Gyms. They're good. The Gym battle theme really stands out, It's not my favorite, but I appreciate the different approach, it adds to Kalos' identity and at least it's more memorable than Gen III and IV's gym battles.
Successor Korrina Battle. A different take on the Gym battle theme.
Friend Battle, the Rival battle theme. I really like this one, it's upbeat and fun.
Professor Sycamore's theme. This is really nice.
Kalos Power Plant, it's a really good dungeon theme.
Boutique. Gotta buy clothes!
Team Flare Battle Theme. It may not be Team Plasma's battle theme, but it's pretty good.
Lysandre Battle Theme. Team Flare's boss gets a really cool battle theme that builds off his grunt's theme.
Route 15 has a really nice theme.
Anistar City has a nice peaceful theme.
An Eternal Prison, so Gen VI doesn't have much of a story, so it was a little jarring when the game suddenly starts talking about an old war, revenge, and the death of hundreds. This solemn theme is very appropriate though.
Xerneas and Yveltal's Battle Theme is pretty good.
Victory Road does what it needs to do very well.
Pokemon League. My favorite League theme, it's perfect for getting us ready for our fight.
Elite Four Battle Theme. It's not bad.
Champion Battle Theme. Fitting, I like it.
Super Training and Secret Super Training. Fun songs, too bad it's such a slow method for EV training though.
Mewtwo Battle. So much nostalgia!
So, the Gen III remakes. What I liked in the originals, I like more here. Though as I mentioned before, I think the real stars of this soundtrack are the few original songs in the game.
The last set of Wild Pokemon, Trainers, and Gyms.
The catchy Pokemart Theme is back! Though I honestly wouldn't mind losing it so the mart would be in the Pokecenter like in Gen V/VI.
The Rival Battle Theme is even better now.
Wally's Encounter theme. I guess it's fitting. Worth mentioning because...
Wally's Battle Theme. He didn't have this before. It builds off his encounter theme, it's fun in an overly dramatic way.
Team Magma/Aqua Leader Encounter Theme. New to ORAS, pretty cool.
Team Magma/Aqua Leader Battle Theme. They made a good song great.
Team Magma/Aqua Hideout Theme is still pretty good.
The Box Legendary Battle Theme is good.
Rayquaza's is as well.
Victory Road is still amazing.
The Elite Four Battle Theme is still better than the Champion's.
The Battle Chatelaine bring back the really good Frontier Brain battle theme.
The Sky Pillar get's a cool new theme during Episode Delta.
Deoxys' Theme from FR/LG returns thankfully.
I may have already talked about Zinnia's themes, but that won't stop me from doing it again! Zinnia brings some of the best music to ever be in the series.
Her Encounter Theme is lovely.
Zinnia's Tale. I didn't mention this one before, a sad take on her Encounter Theme, still lovely.
And her Battle Theme. One of my favorite battle themes in the series.

After all of that, I'd have to say that Gen V has my favorite soundtrack overall, I expected it to be Gen II.
Gen III is still my least favorite, but I think I like it a little bit more now.

It was pretty fun. I kind of want to go over another series. Maybe I'll find a smaller series though...

If you were into platformers back in the 1990's and owned an original PlayStation, then you probably played a Crash Bandicoot game. Despite never being a first party Sony property, the orange marsupial was once considered the unofficial mascot for the brand. After several hit-or-miss multiplatform, mobile phone, and even Nintendo handheld-exclusive releases, the series sadly seems to be dead, but I still get a kick out of the older entries and their soundtracks. I would be thrilled if the franchise returns on eighth generation consoles while in the hands of a talented development studio that knows what it's doing.

Every iteration consisted of various environments and bosses, each with its own fitting theme music. I'll keep it fairly short by only listing favorites.

Crash Bandicoot (PS1, 1996)

Stage Themes
Main Theme/N. Sanity Beach -- This is one of the catchiest main themes ever in my opinion.
Boulders/Boulder Dash -- These stages required the player to run away from -- you guessed it -- boulders. This music track added to the tension.
Hog Wild/Whole Hog -- Crash faces the camera and makes the creepiest grin known to mankind before riding and steering a warthog on rails. The name "Hog Wild" best describes this song.

Boss Themes
Dr. Nitrus Brio -- One of the last bosses in the game has one of my favorite themes. The final third of this entry takes place in a dark castle, home to mad scientists with advanced technology.
Dr. Neo Cortex (Final Boss) -- The most commonly recurring villain in the series has one of the most commonly recurring themes.

Ending Theme

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back (PS1, 1997)

Warp Room/Level Select

Stage Themes
Turtle Woods
Snow Go
Unbearable -- Crash 2's boulder chase music also adds to the tension.
Sewer or Later
Road to Ruin

Other Themes -- Remixes of Boss Themes from Crash 1
Dr. Nitrus Brio
Dr. Neo Cortex

Crash Bandicoot: Warped (PS1, 1998) -- The third main entry in the series stars Crash and his younger sister Coco traveling though not only different locations, but also different time periods.

Main Theme -- I prefer the original theme, but this one to good in its own right.
Warp Room/Level Select -- [insert GIF of Crash performing his signature dance here]

Stage Themes
Medieval
Prehistoric
Pyramid
Chinese Wall -- I should mention that the player rides a tiger cub in these stages, similar to the warthog from Crash 1.
Arabian
Arabian (Death Route)

Boss Themes
Tiny Tiger (Gladiator Arena)
Dingodile -- Yes, it's a hybrid of dingo and crocodile. This series features some bizarre characters and creatures indeed.
Dr. Neo Cortex -- Out of all of the renditions of the theme, this one gives off the most sense of finality, as Warped was the last main installment to be developed by series creator Naughty Dog.

The World Ends With You has an amazing soundtrack to go with a phenomenal game. With it's comic book styled cutscenes, memorable characters, great story, unique battle controls that's specifically made for the DS, wonderful art style, and overall good presentation, it's by far my favorite DS game of all time. I would recommend it to anyone with a 3DS/DS to pick it up if your a fan of RPGs. It's made by Square Enix and has the same character designer who helped with Kingdom Hearts.

Some Overworld songs:
Déjà vu
Three Minutes Clapping
Calling
Game Over
Shibuya
Underground

Battle Songs:
Long Dream
Give Me All Your Love
Transformation
The Only Star
Emptiness And
Someday (They have an English and a Japanese ver.)

They only play a small loop of these songs, but they pack this and much more into a game that has a lot of re-playability. They have an alternate story line collectibles, and so much more that I would really advise anyone to pick up if they haven't tried it out. If you like the soundtrack, look into the EP and Kingdom Remix albums which have songs left out of the OST album along with extras.

Some of the Remix/EP albums:
Tatakai
Calling (Kingdom Remix)
Someday (Kingdom Remix)
Jump Over Yourself
DTM
Twister (Kingdom Mix)

((They do have an HD port of the game out for smartphones as well. I haven't played it due to a lack of a smartphone, but I would recommend getting it for the DS and get the original control scheme it was meant to have.))

EDIT: Also, @ Minato Minato do you intend for the thread to be music that was only released in video games, or would you allow music that was already released by a band prior to the game's launch (like these ones)?

Wow: I used to hate Pokémon D/P/Pt's soundtrack when I was younger, but after listening to most of songs without any gameplay, I have to say that the Sinnoh games have some of the most underrated tunes in the whole series. I know there was another post that talked about Gen IV's music, but I'm still gonna go ahead and share my thoughts on it.

Route 201: Ah the start of a new adventure. This really gives me that "I'm gonna go visit [blank]" kind of feeling, and the anime version is even better in my opinion.
Route 203/204/218: Whenever I hear this, I feel like I just did something great and I'm off to do something even better. Really upbeat and a great early route tune.
Route 205: This song feels much more grand, like you've just left your home area and now you're truly exploring what the world has to offer all by yourself.
Route 209: Such a beautiful song, like you've realized how far you've come and what it means.
Route 210: "So much to explore, so much training to do, with enough effort I'm destined to be the best!" A truly encouraging song, that makes me want to get off of my feet and actually do something (the anime version is much more beautiful).
Route 225/226/227 (night version): This is probably one of my favorite route themes in the Pokémon entire series. It's as if it combines everything from the previous Sinnoh route themes to create one emotional, encouraging, and just downright beautiful song.
Route 228: A great, somewhat jazzy tune that somewhat suits walking in a desert.

Twinleaf Town: A nice calming piece of music that makes you feel right at home.
Lake Theme: A clam tune with a sense of mystery.
Jubilife City: Unlike most city themes, this song is much more calm and spirited. Suitable for the first city.
Eterna City: Sounds westerny at first but then transitions to something that sounds like the blues.
Veilstone City: Another somewhat jazzy tune that fits the atmosphere.
Sunyshore City: Really upbeat and just fun to listen to.
Pokémon League (night version): After all of your hardwork, you finally made it. Now before you face your greatest challenge yet, listen to this tune while you reflect on your memories of the adventure that brought you here.
Inside the Pokémon League: This really gets you pumped for the most intense battles of your life.

Normal Trainer Battle: Really catchy song that gets a bit intense as it goes on.
Gym Leader / Elite Four*: Great dramatic themes that are an improvement over R/S/E's more cheerful gym themes. I really like the part roughly 35 seconds in. *Both sound similar but are slightly different in tuning
Team Galactic Grunt Battle: Fighting weird-haired grunts is made epic with this music playing (the Brawl version is pretty good too).
Team Galactic Victory: An incredibly catchy jingle. It's a shame this song is hard to listen to since the dialogue at the end of battles is automatic.
Team Galactic Commander Battle: Essentially the grunt theme but much more lively, yet still just as great.
Team Galactic Leader Battle: This theme sounds much more dark and serious compared to most of the songs so far. It really suites when fighting Cyrus at Spear Pillar/Distortion World.
Cynthia Battle: Truly the most fast paced and in my opinion the best battle theme in the entire game. Everything about it is just amazing.
Frontier Brain Battle: A really suspenseful yet encouraging piece of music that is perfect for a "if you lose, start all over" fight.

Wild Pokémon Battle: A pretty good theme that suits trying to catch annoying Pokémon.
Dialga/Palkia Battle: Really gives off that time/space feel from the Sinnoh games. Gets a bit weird later on but it's still good.
Lake Trio Battle: I love the mystic and not as fast paced feeling this song gives off. It really suits the legendaries and sounds great.
Legendary Pokémon Battle: This sounds like you're being chased by something and you have to face your fears (this really suites the battle with Darkrai). Still sounds good with the other legendaries (and Rotom)
Giratina Battle: Gives off that feeling of darkness the Legendary theme does while also adding in a sense of urgency. All of it boils down to a great song while you fight the Pokémon from hell.

End Credits: Well it was a great journey, but now it's time to head on home. A nice warming piece that reminds you that it's time to take a well deserved rest.

Overall, I feel like the 4th generations soundtrack is largely overlooked. I hope this post helps people appreciate its music more.

Alright, new project.

Metroid.

I'm a really big fan of the Metroid series. The Prime trilogy got me into it, and while I still personally hold those games as the pinnacle of the series, those that came before are amazing as well. There's a ton of great music to be found here, so this will probably take me a while.

The game that started it all. The gameplay may not have aged well, but it's music is still really good.
The Title Theme. What a way to start the series, the haunting beginning as well as the more upbeat second half captures what the series is about.
Brinstar. The first area theme, it's a classic.
Kraid's Lair. My favorite track from the original Metroid game, and one of my favorites in the series.
Escape. A tense track perfect for when everything around us is about the blow up. It's something that happens a lot throughout the series.
Staff Credits. Catchy.
Samus Aran's Appearance and Item Acquisition, two unforgettable jingles that will always be with the series.
Metroid II. I don't have much to say about this, I own a copy, but haven't tried playing it too much.
Surface of SR388. Pretty good, I'm surprised we don't hear it more throughout the series.
Staff Credits. A surprisingly happy song.

Okay, I wasn't expecting this one to be so short. There's not a lot of songs for Metroid II, and most are ambient tracks, so only a couple stood out to me.
The third game is where the series finally got everything right. Super Metroid is an amazing game, and while it's not my most favorite in the series, it's easy to see why so many people hold it in such high regard.
Title Theme. Chilling. This is perfect.
The Theme of Super Metroid. Again, perfect.
The Theme of Samus Aran. Found in upper Crataria, not bad.
Brinstar Vegetation Area, possibly my favorite song in Super Metroid, it's so good.
Brinstar Red Soil Area, this song is great too.
Norfair Ancient Ruins Area, a tense song that works great for the area where Ridley is hiding.
Big Boss Battle 1, this memorable battle theme will eventually go on to be known as Ridley's battle theme, but it also plays for Daygon and the Torizo fights.
Big Boss Battle 2, for the other bosses, this tense track is good too, but I like Ridley's theme a more.
Escape, Ridley's theme is back, this really wasn't his theme back then, haha. Anyways, time for the most important question, are we going to save or kill the animals?
Ending, not bad.
Metroid Fusion, it's not my favorite, but it has some good atmosphere. It's music reflects that, I don't think many tracks stand out, but that's because most of them are atmospheric and add to the tension off the game.
Neo Ridley Fight. Not my favorite Ridley battle theme, but it works really well for the X infected Ridley.
Escape, like in Super Metroid, it's Ridley's theme.
This is my favorite 2D Metroid game. A remake of the original, all the good music from that is back, plus some new stuff. The music in the remake was clearly inspired by the music in the Primes, which I think was a good idea.
Title Theme. There's more focus on the upbeat part of the original, but it's not bad.
Menu Select. Just the chilling part of the title theme, it works greatly on its own.
Brinstar. Still really good.
Save/Item Room. Also still good.
Norfair Theme. A massive improvement over the original.
Kraid's Lair. This amazing theme is back, I like what they did.
Kraid Fight. The original didn't have boss battle themes, so Kraid takes his from Super Metroid.
Ridley Fight. And of course Ridley takes what is by now his battle theme.
Escape. The original escape theme is back, I'm glad to see it again.
Final Attack. Another Brinstar remix for when Samus gets her power suit back in the epilogue.
Mecha Ridley Fight. Another Ridley battle theme remix.
Staff Credits. Still catchy.
I said I consider the Prime Trilogy to be the pinnacle of the series, that's not just the gameplay, but musically too. Let's start with the game that revived the series.
Title Theme. This song perfectly captures the atmosphere I look forward to in this series.
Menu Select. Such a good song, I'd often find myself sitting at the main menu just listening to this.
Parasite Queen Boss Theme. Not bad, though you're not likely to hear all of it since the boss is so easy to kill.
Tallon Overworld Main Theme. A nice theme for the first real area we get to explore, it even reprises a little of the original Brinstar theme.
Hive Mecha/Incinerator Drone Boss Theme. Why do such boring bosses have such a good theme.
Chozo Ruins Main Theme. While it's probably my least favorite area in the Prime trilogy, this is a good theme.
Flaahgra Boss Theme. Works well for the creepy plant thing.
Magmoor Caverns Main Theme. A remix of the lower Norfair area in Super Metroid, I really like what they did with it.
Phendrana Drifts Main Theme. I mentioned that I've always liked snowy areas in video games back in my Pokemon post. Phendrana Drifs is one of my favorite locations in any video game, and its music is perfect.
Chozo Artifact Temple. This captures the wisdom of the Chozo nicely. As does the Phendrana Drifts version. And the Chozo Ruins version.
Space Pirates Approaching, and Space Pirates Main Theme. This theme really helps to make the Space Pirates a lot more intimidating, and they needed it.
Thardus Boss Theme. Not Bad.
Tallon Overworld Depths. This is just really good.
Phendrana Drifts Depths. Also really good.
Downed Frigate Main Theme. Really nice, it stands out a lot thanks to being mainly a piano song, and it's a great choice for the area it's found in.
Meta Ridley Boss Theme. It's Ridley's theme again! I like what they did, it works nicely for the new cyborg Ridley.
Staff Credits. A slightly different version of the amazing menu select theme.
Here it is, my favorite Metroid game. It may not be the most popular choice, but I really love the atmosphere of this game, as well as the extra difficulty. Anyways, its music is really good too.
Title Theme. We're off to a pretty good start.
Menu Select Theme. Prime 1's is better, but this is still good.
Multiplayer Theme 1. I didn't play the multiplayer much, but there's some good music there. This is a remix of Super Metroid's Brinstar forest area, a very different take on that song, but it works.
Multiplayer Theme 3. A slightly different version of the menu select theme.
Temple Grounds Main Theme. A great theme for the now desolate temple grounds.
Space Pirates Approaching, and Space Pirates Main Theme. Slightly different versions of the Prime 1 themes, I like these a little more.
Dark Samus Boss Theme. This is really good, a great fit for Samus' evil doppelganger.
Torvus Bog Main Theme. One of my favorite themes in the series. This is so good at setting the mood for Torvus Bog, it helped to make this also one of my favorite areas in the series.
Torvus Bog Hydrodynamo Station Theme. Another Super Metroid remix, and they did a great job. It works perfectly where it shows up.
Sanctuary Fortress. Here we are, my favorite area in the entire Metroid series. Sanctuary Fortress is such an interesting location, and we still haven't really seen anything else like it. This theme is great for when we find ourselves in a guarded fortress overlooking a technologically advanced city.
Emperor Ing Phase 1. Pretty good for the final boss.
Emperor Ing Phase 2. Also good. I like these themes more over what the final boss had in Prime 1.
Escape/Final Dark Samus Fight. It's the escape theme from Metroid 1. I'm glad we have an escape back at the end of the game again, Prime 1 was missing that.
Staff Credits. Like with Prime 1, it's a slightly different version of the menu select theme.
And finally, Metroid Prime 3. It has plenty of good music too.
Title Theme. Pretty good, I think it's a great fit for the start of the last game in the trilogy.
Space Pirates Theme. Of course this is back, still the great high tension theme they deserve.
Samus' Mission. A remix of the Theme of Samus Aran from Super Metroid, pretty good.
Bryyo Main Theme. Not bad.
Rundas Boss Battle. One of the best boss battle themes in the entire series.
Skytown Elysia. I really liked exploring Skytown Elysia, the design of the place is really good, as is this song.
Gandrayda Boss Battle. Pretty good.
Omega Ridley. It's good to have you back Ridley, I missed you in Prime 2.
Dark Samus Boss Battle. Dark Samus' battle theme is still really good.
Staff Credits. It's the end of the trilogy. Retro Studios did an amazing job with these games, this isn't a bad way to end it.
Metroid Prime Pinball
Space Pirate Frigate(Brinstar). Hahaha, okay Prime Pinball.
Tallon Overworld. Interesting, I don't think it's as good as the original, but maybe this fits better with a pinball game.
Meta Ridley. Hi Ridley.
Staff Credits. I never played Metroid Prime Pinball, so I expected it to just have music taken right out of Prime. It was interesting to listen to these remixes.

Metroid Prime Hunters
Menu Select Theme. This may not be the most notable Metroid game, but I want to at least mention this theme.

Metroid Prime Trilogy
Title Theme. The collection for the Wii got this nice new theme, I really like it.

So there we have it, that's every Metroid game. There's a ton of great music, so it's a shame we haven't seen a new game since 2007.

This took quite some time for me to write, several weeks from just adding parts every now and then. During that time I even managed to finish another playthrough in Metroid 1, Super Metroid, Metoid Fusion, Metroid Zero Mission, and I'm almost done going through Metroid Prime 1 again. This has been pretty fun.

I can't choose what my favorite song in Final Fantasy IV is, so here's the whole soundtrack for ya:
