That's going to require an insane amount of work depending on the length, quality, and effort into this game. I used to make fan-games too, for around 4 years. I used an old program called " Multimedia Fusion, and Game Maker. I swear I spent an entire four years trying to truly master Multimedia Fusion, and I somewhat did. After years of tutorials, guides, copying.

Anyway, what's going to be time consuming is the sprites. Starting from complete scratch, and the backgrounds too? Firstly you have to get the animation frames right, then the programming, then the bugs, then the stages. Those alone take weeks on end. Seeing as you only have two people working on it..well..will take even longer. I mean, I tried making a game by myself, using Sprite rips, Ripped mp3's, and many tutorials on static engine/movement/advance x-axis/y-axis jumping, and literally took me a month to make three levels. At that, I stopped mid-way and gave up.

Of course, if this guy is a pro at programming, then it shouldn't be too tedious. but a full length game..from complete scratch and online? Whoa.

Yea it's better to do something then nothing at all, but you better make sure you finish it and not let it go to waste. Pretty sad, I spent from 2003-2007 trying to make games, and didn't finish a single one. But I admit it was fun getting the camera to scroll for the first time. XDD

Remember, you can always do it for the experience. Programming a game in itself has it's own wonders and joys, even if it doesn't get done, or fails. I can't tell you how happy I was getting mp3 music to play in my stages, and having tails actually FLY when you pressed a button. Boy, were those some good ol days.

you want us to compliment your project without you putting out any data or information

no. this is not how the industry works, nor will it never. no one goes around complimenting each other on how their stuff looks, they point out whats wrong with it, you agree/disagree and you act accordingly. you dont run around hoping everyone will pat you on the back and say "good boy!". you want to make a game, cool. if you want to tell people about it, expect negative comments.

If so, maybe then we may need someone to help with the sprites. I would help, but I do not know how to make a sprite. Jiang, what I really meant was that I wanted people to stay on topic and talk about the update. Just shut your mouth.

Trust me. Get a ripped sprite from a mario game. It makes work SO much easier. For one, all you have to do is put them in the right order to animate. Second, it actually flows good, and its well done.

Starting from scratch is harder because even if you put the animation frames in the right order, it could still be way off because of the way you drew it.

Here is your starting point, or atleast where I started.

I am experienced, but not advance in making fighting games. I made mainly platformers, such as mario, sonic, megaman, some kingdom hearts side-scrollers LOL.

well, for one you just visit a website, download the sprite sheet. then you go into multimedia fusion, open new frame on the storyboard editor. right click, and click " insert an object". you will see a list. Click "Active". this will make a new default sprite in that frame. you double click the sprite, and it should open up the sprite editor. click the (+) button, hit insert from file, and choose your sprite sheet.

then, make a box around which animation sequence you want to choose. For example. If you want to make sigma from megaman attacking, you highlight his entire attacking sequence, and hit ok. then all you do is make them each it's own individual sprite, into frames. it sounds hard, but really it takes less then 5 seconds to do. of course, when i first got the program it took me about a month to actually do it work.

Going off topic i know, but I had to answer that question. Also, I don't even know if Lexi is using Multimedia fusion. To put a multimedia game on the internet, you publish it, put it in a folder, then upload the game to Rapidshare or Megaupload. Personally I have done a HUGE HUGE library of ANIMATED sprite rips from multimedia fusion, to have you if want. Most of them are backgrounds, from all different types of games.

You know a lot, I would have to consult with Lexl5 and Cheezball, but you probably could aid in the development, oh and thx for the info. :)

If they use Multimedia fusion, yes. It is a very simple easy program for creating games. you don't even really need to know programming language. Heck, how else would I have started? Most of the stuff is REALLY easily comprehensionable to anyone.

I mean not to brag, but that's about as hard as it gets. It's almost like taking an Algebra 1 or 2 class, except your using sonic sprite for variables and etc XD

The only problem I see here is that I don't have it, and it costs money. A lot.:ohwell:

What stages were they, and the game is in pre production, nothing is permanent yet, Lex is still deciding on stages, and characters ect....

Show them to Cheezball, he is the main stage designer.

WHOA! LISTEN! What's going on? There's been a massive misunderstanding between me, smashboards, and my associates. Dont worry, the game is still being made, and it will still be great. I just don't think people realize what I'm doing. expect i little mini voice-recording, almost like a short half-hour podcast, tomorrow. I will clear everything up. The people who arent working for me werent supposed to see the levels and sprites yet, and this thread wasn't supposed to exist. Leave the thread up, though, until my voice notice, which will be posted via link around 5 PM tomorrow.
