If he's a stage boss, it'll be midway through, discussing features of stages. If he's playable, I doubt they'd open with that. What's more likely is that they have some kind of trailer for the hidden characters that they'll show off to open it. If they're going to reveal something like DLC, or special unlockable characters for the Wii U, it'll likely come towards the end.

Who knows though. At this point though, people really should be preparing themselves for there being no new characters, rather than hyping themselves for them.

Tbh, this. It's better to remain realistic, instead of overly pessimistic/optimistic. That way, you won't be as disappointed if there aren't any new characters. And since people seem to be really hyped at the thought of new characters, that can either be the best thing of their gaming experience in Sm4sh, or end up being their own undoing. Also, you won't be expecting too much so if new characters (since this seems to be what like 75% of the forums seem to care about the most), you'll be able to scream for joy with no regrets.

First off, whether we get new characters or not, the chances of getting all of the Big 3 is slim. Heck, like you said, just getting one of them is still up in the air. In terms of chances: Mewtwo>Ridley>>>King K. Rool But even then, this doesn't guarantee much. We'll have to wait and see.

How about if you have the JUST the Wii U version? I think that would seem fair for the Wii U players to get DLC, and then if they also have the 3ds version, they can download that for free as well. 60 bucks IS more than 40 after all.

There's no way Nintendo would pass that up. They had Wii U bundles for frigging Just Dance for crying out loud.

So here's my last night list of (realistic) thoughts now that I've thought about it a few days.

1) A Mario Kart TV type deal where you can watch other people's uploaded replays, edit and upload your own, and upload to YouTube.

2) SOME sort of confirmation of DLC. Whether that be characters or not remains to be seen. We'll likely get DLC like MK8 is doing . Packs with multiple things over several months.

3) DHD trailer is certain. Jr trailer is likely.

4) Another Day 2 Tournament, but for Wii U

5) Phase 3 of Amiibo unveiling.

6) perhaps an example of what Smash Amiibos do in other games.

7) A surprise announcement (or potentially cryptic hint) of what happens when you connect 3DS to Wii U. Not necessarily new characters but perhaps unlocks all characters present already in your 3ds file. An additional stage just for those who bought both? HD Magicant maybe? And 3ds Pyrosphere? There's definitely at least one open space on the 3ds stage selection.

8) Game board mode. Playable locally with four players and those four can play online with four other people playing locally which is your 8 player Smash.

9) announcement of a patch for 3ds to make Smash Run playable online

10) people who register both on Club Nintendo will, in addition to getting the soundtracks, will get a free download of Smash 64, kicking off Wii U menu N64 game release . Unless they pull that ambassador bs again

11) Dixie Kong is announced. This one is one that I'm on shaky ground with, especially since she's a trophy. But. If there's going to be DLC characters, I get the feeling she'd be one of the first, a logical choice.

20-23.) More characters when you connect the games together (this is where I'm starting to grasp at straws)

"Similar to Sonic’s trailer, it starts off with a clip of Samus and Charizard fighting on the Pyrosphere stage. In a cinematic style, Samus lands on the ground after being attacked by Charizard. Right before she gets up, a shadow of Ridley like the one in the Direct appears above her, with Samus looking up. It zooms in on her eyes and shows a sepia-tone flashback of all the past newcomer taglines in a quick manner. (Villager comes to town! Mega Man joins the battle! etc.) Which then goes back to Samus.

She moves out of the way, and Ridley lands. Just like in Little Mac’s trailer, it pans in on different parts of his body, which leads up to his head. He’s about to show his newcomer tagline, but is interrupted.

It makes another reference to Little Mac’s trailer. It zooms out between the 3 fighters, and it shows that Ridley is considerably larger than the other two. Out of nowhere, a bunch of Mario Mushrooms fall out of the sky shrinking Ridley down immensely. Right after that, Ridley screeches and it shows his tagline: “Ridley Sizes Up for Battle!”

It then cuts to gameplay with him on the Pyrosphere stage. Before him land 3 other fighters, Shulk, Pac-Man and Dr. Mario. I assume he gets revealed prior to this? The music in his trailer was a remix of the traditional Ridley theme but it sounded very well from what I heard. There’s a scene of him defeating the Mother Brain Assist Trophy, and taunting next to Dark Samus. Another gameplay clip has him flying around the Boxing Ring stage, with Little Mac struggling to attack him. (A few bits of laughter from other employees came around the room during this scene.) The final scene I remember seeing was him fighting other characters on a Wii U stage. I’ve played enough Metroid to recognize that he was on Tourian, with the 16-bit golden boss statue in the background."

Jeez reading through this topic reminds me that we're getting a lot of stuff talked about tomorrow. This direct's not going to be anything small (unless they just bullet point the whole thing which would suck but oh well).

As long not all of those 50 things are just stuff we knew already or expected. I want something to make me feel stronger about Smash Wii U superiority.
But as for predictions: I think the Duck Hunt reveal is a given at this point. I wish they revealed Bowser Jr. and the remaining vets as well so we can get over it already.
And almost certain it will be the last day for Ridley's. Either he makes it or "stages" it. No more glimmers or hope or things that dont match. What I'm saying is, we will surely see the full version or the Pyroshpere, and whatever is in there.
