O.o

Clearly not a very popular option, but I think the up B can still hit shields...

I wouldn't recommend doing it more than once or twice in a match.

It's no different then using up b anywhere else.

Don't use up b offensively unless you're really desperate or under hardcore pressure in a shield. Up b out of shield.

Ledgehopping is a bad idea??
In general, I think so. The #1 rule of playing Falcon is: Don't fuck around near the edge. If you were able to grab the edge in the first place, it's most likely because your opponent messed up an edgeguard, in which case you should not be worried about hitting them. Your first priority should be to get back to the center of the stage as quickly and safely as possible. In certain situations, ledgehopping is the best way to do this. More often than not, I'd say there are better options.

I prefer ledgehoped uair but what do i know? i main samus. anyways i think ledgehopping is a basic but brilliant tactic and you should use it alot. I know where ZoSo is getting at though because when i play my falcon i can almost never recover.

Agreed Zoso, main thing is getting back onto the stage the safest way, since falcon's recorvery isnt too good. Before you even know it, youll be edgeguard or spiked, so get onto the stage quickly, like ZoSo said

Hmm, I suppose so, but I have had great success with ledge-hopped knees, fan-kicks and stomps. I've always found it to be a better option than full jumping from the edge and attacking from the edge. A roll is a great option, but sometimes they see that coming. Why not pressure with a ledgehopped attack?

The fact that you're on the edge in the first place puts you under an enormous amount of pressure, what with Falcon's gimp-ability. The best you can hope to do with a ledgehopped aerial is drive your opponent away from the edge, but the fact of the matter is that you're pretty much leaving yourself with zero options. Your second jump is gone and you basically have no choice but to land within the small area directly adjacent to the edge. Meanwhile, your opponent is free to take a more favorable position, namely one that will both prevent you from hitting them and enable them to punish you easily.

I won't say ledgehopping is never a good idea, but doing it too often can and will get you killed.

I guess your best bet is to mix it up along with rolls or jumps (pretty much the way a Falcon should play) because if you keep doing ledge hopped attacks, it's pretty easy to predict you and you will get shield grabbed quickly. Course this is all situational, just watch what your opponent is doing.

If you're going to roll onto the stage, take advantage of this early on because the roll is much quicker when your damage is below 100%. Past 100%, its pretty easy to tell if you're about to roll on, because there's a pausing animation that occurs before the roll completes.

Of course it is (I do it regularly)

Depends on who I'm facing, I usually like to roll up (sub 100 damage and all...) or nair from the edge. I'm pretty bad at getting in the knee at that point, but sometimes I sneak one in~
